Grand Rapids wedding cake baker, Ken Stevens, created this dreamy white chocolate dress for a recent wedding show. I was dying to get some images of it, and Meg of Goodman Images was kind enough to send these over. Ken & Alex, of MiraBella Confections are two of my favorite people to work with in my local wedding industry and I was so happy to see Ken's chocolate dress finally happened. What a show stopper!... |
I love showing you something a little funky and off the beaten, trendy wedding path from time to time. This beautiful cake is neither buttercream nor fondant (although we suspect that buttercream is the glue beneath the surface.) The decoration here is chocolate, believe it or not! The stunning marbleized effect is achieved by using transfer sheets with edible dye. The chocolatier spreads tempered chocolate over the acetate sheets, and as it cools to a hardened (though still malleable) state, the cake is wrapped with the sheetsof chocolate for this incredible effect. I love the designs... |
Here we go with those birds again. Good thing I love them…right? There is so much to talk about with this cake I am having trouble deciding where to begin…so let’s just start with the facts. This is a four tier cake. The tiers have an alternating diamond pattern while the other layers are smooth and clean fondant. The top tier has an intricate swirl design and is topped with a gorgeous monogrammed cake topper. The photographer got this picture right…the most gorgeous part of this cake is from a birds eye view. Haha, birds AGAIN. The base of each tier has a navy blue ribbon with yellow ... |
