As a graphic designer myself, I’m sure you understand why I tend to dork out about really well designed printed pieces at weddings. It should come as no surprise then, that I’m a fan of Cheer Up Cherup‘s collection and bespoke designs, all which are typographically and visually stunning. The designs have a more contemporary character, which I adore, but don’t have to be applied to “modern” weddings. How perfect is the Logs and Leaves design (top left) for a rustic wedding, giving it unexpected whimsical charm rather than the typically overdone vintage inspired invite? Check out th... |
Sweet Calligraphy makes it onto Magazine Pages Given my behind-the-scenes role in many brides’ wedding planning processes, I have a lot of fun imagining what will follow the amazing letterpress wedding invitations I see everyday. It’s a huge surprise to actually bear witness to the big day, especially within a magazine! Our beautiful bride Emily and her husband Adam’s Cutchogue, New York wedding was featured in the WellWed: Hamptons Spring/Summer 2011issue! The day looks so sunny and lovely, I always end up wishing I were on the guest list. Not to mention, Emily’s invitation is ce... |
i just saw this save the date at cheree berry and love the simplicity. also loving the stiped envelope liner!also spotted this invitation set at cheree berry. love it. i would probably trade yellow for green and keep the b/w stripes.if you click on the image above, you'll be able to see the detail a little better. it's an abby jean set and i love the tiny baroque-style details ... i know this is cheesy but does anyone know of clip art that's similar to these details?i promise i won't use these pineapples anywhere in my invitations but i love that they symbolize hospitality in the south ... i a... |
Pretty pretty! I love Flush Designs’ small but creative portfolio. Courtney Keefe, a girl after my own heart, personally handmakes, prints, and assembles each of her creations! Check out the simplicity and texture of her pieces: Pricing found here - very reasonable in my opinion for all her time and love, especially since you will be receiving a one-of-a-kind creation. She also has a little etsy shop. Hopefully we’ll be seeing more soon! E.... |
The Importance of Dressing Well…as a Designer! As a designer, I feel it’s extremely important to represent myself as an artistic-minded, well put together person. In other words, you won’t see me at the park in my pajama bottoms and college sweatshirt. I am a designer – I dress myself as such whenever I can! This doesn't mean I only wear the most expensive or well known brands - hip style comes from putting together great ensembles, whether they be from Target or Sak's (or even better, a combination!) I don't know how many times I've worn a simple (but fabulous fitting) Target dres... |
We’ve offered some other examples of designer shoes for the wedding day and we hope that they seemed useful in a way or another. That’s what we hope this time as well: to present to you the most interesting stuff in order for you to make a general idea and see what can you apply for. So, we start with the first example of designer shoes, which consists of a pair of high heeled sandals that are made of fuzzy leather. In the front side these have peep toe and you can observe in the back side of the ankle the closure. Let’s also mention that on the exterior side you can observe some beade... |
you wouldn't automatically assume that these flower arrangements are actually made out of clay, would you? well, that is exactly what they are, handcrafted clay floral designs. anything from bouquets, centerpieces, to a timeless hairpiece to keep with you always--these are gorgeous from dk designs from etsy. ... |
With just days to go before the big day, I probably shouldn’t even be taking a few minutes to write on here, but I know that if I don’t, it will be a whirlwind and a new surname away before I get around to it! One thing that this ethical wedding journey has taught me is that the more you learn, the more you care. For a few years now, I have been concerned with ’sweat shop’ clothing and exploitation. It hadn’t wildly influenced my buying decisions, although I had started to make some of my own clothes at home, and wear more second-hand, or recycled clothing. I started to understand th... |
So you’ve contemplated a theme for your reception and carried it through to your invitations in some unique way, scoured inspiration boards for color schemes that resonate well with your tastes, and probably met with a cake designer to create a scrumptious tower of confectionery beauty that will be the piece de resistance at your reception…but have you included your food offerings in your design plan? Often this is an overlooked category that can play into your overall concept in many unique ways. I recently sat in on a presentation given by wedding planner Colin Cowie in Las Vegas wher... |
We’ve been talking a bit about work this week on the blog, jobs, careers – the old nine to five. To follow on from Charlottes post on Tuesday I thought I would give a quick re-cap on what I did before becoming a wedding blogger. I was a graphic designer (still am really, but more about that in a bit). If you read Charlottes post about her work life outside of Rock My Wedding you’ll be well aware that Charlotte and I used to work together – that was how we first met. I was one of the graphic designers that she mentioned who sat in the office at the top of the spiral staircase (I hasten ... |
