I got an e-mail yesterday from Suzy in Los Angeles, who used a vintage postcard from their venue to create save the dates! She actually made two cards, one with the date information and another with travel info and a blank back. She addressed the blank side of the postcard, and then combined both postcards in a clear envelope & mailed them. I also have pictures of the back sides of the postcards, but when I blurred out her name & info it took away from the overall look too much. So I decided to just show the front...great, right? Suzy also suggested I look on ebay for some vintage po...

Nobody who knows me would ever say my style was vintage.  It's sort of a mish-mash of modern meets athletic meets preppy.  A combo of Charlotte and Sporty Spice.  That being said, I absolutely love black and white movies, sepia toned photos and really cool retro antiques.  So while I may never have a vintage wedding dress, these save the dates definitely make me want to kick it old school style:{image via The Oceanside Bride} {image via Clark + Walker} {image via Simply Perfect Weddings} {image via OurWeddingDay Blog}...

  • Save the dates are informal notices sent out to guests to “save the date” of your upcoming wedding! Basically, only a few pieces of information are necessary: your names, the date, and city of event. In some cases, the venue is mentioned if already booked.  I inform my brides and grooms to send them out about 9-12 months before the big day so that guests are able to plan ahead, request time off from work, and get their flights and hotel rooms booked. Here are some of my favorite ideas that I found while browsing Etsy recently. Las Vegas Luggage Tags Las Vegas map Movie Ticket Vintage P...

  • One of the first things my friends and family would say to me (after congratulations, of course) after Olive Dude and I got engaged was something along the lines of “OMG! I can’t wait to see your Save The Dates/Invites/insert any other printed product or DIY project here.” While this is extremely flattering and I know it was meant as complimentary…it stressed me out. Being a professional graphic designer who has designed collateral for a bunch of friend’s weddings has put me in the spotlight and, therefore, made me nervous that some people might be overly critical...

Love your DIY projects? Our great friends at Wedding Chicks have an entire section on their site dedicated to great DIY wedding projects. Two of my favorite are these vintage save the dates and crown wedding save the dates and day of material. You can personalize them and print them out on your home printer or send them to Vista Print or Kinkos and have them do it for you. Either way, they look elegant and amazing, and the best part is you save a lot of money that you can set aside for that dream dress. Visit Wedding Chicks to find all the details on these and more great projects....

  •  Vintage postcards are so lovely.  Loi & Jon are planning their wedding Rhode Island & wanted to feature the iconic Mount Hope Bridge on their save the dates because guests will cross this bridge when they travel to the wedding.  Loi wanted the save the date to look like a vintage postcard with a bit of a modern touch. She found a vintage postcard of the bridge which I paired with a vintage image of roses.  The back of the save the date feature details about the wedding.  Loi collected vintage postage stamps which featured sail boats & Rhode Island's state stamp.  The s...
