Since I am at it, I figured I would show you the rest of my entry for the contest. This is the venue...pretty isn't it?... |
As we were gathering inspiration, we were also gathering information. Figuring out a guest list and a budget. We were hoping for a May wedding - and venues and vendors fill up fast, so we wanted to start looking and booking as soon as possible. I definitely think every bride and groom, before making any decisions, should create a strict guest list (adding random people here and there adds up quickly!) and a budget. Choosing a venue or any vendors before establishing those two things is definitely putting the cart before the horse. So we had our numbers in order - time to find a location. We re... |
Last week was filled with special projects like this and this, but our days this week are filled with client meetings, site visits, and planning parties! One of the places we'll be visiting today is the Metropolitan Club, an ideal venue for a special event due to its ornate architectural design and proximity to the Central Park! We'd love to hear from you about where you held your special event (wedding, shower, birthday, or whatever!) and why you loved it. Were you happy with the venue that you picked? What was it about the venue that you loved? We'd love to hear your thoughts!I'll ... |
My check book will be busy this week. We are going to attempt to “book” the church, reception hall, and the priest. So I thought that I would take a moment to introduce our venues.Chris and I will be getting married at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Indianapolis, IN.(entrance to St. Joan of Arc)The reception will be downtown in the ballroom of the University Place Hotel and Conference Center. The large ballroom will easily accommodate all of our guests and the convenience of the attached hotel is priceless. Having the reception downtown will give us so many options for picture taking, ... |
We went to Wisconsin this weekend and looked at 6 different venues. When all was said and done (and we were exhausted) we decided on The Abbey Resort. It had all we wanted - a place for people to stay and relax, an outdoor ceremony site on the lake, and a white tent for the reception. Above is a picture of where the ceremony will take place, and I have several more pictures of the tent and other locations around the resort that I will upload. The wedding coordinator at The Abbey is amazing, and right now we have August 23rd and September 20th on hold. We'll know the date for sure this week!Othe... |
More and more couples are opting to have their wedding ceremony and reception in the same venue. This is extremely convenient for guests and many times, you may find it to be more cost effective as well (saving on transportation, alternate venue fees, etc.) With a ceremony most often comes the need for a rehearsal – typically the evening before the wedding – in the wedding ceremony location. And yet, just as common, is a venue’s policy of not guaranteeing the rehearsal date and time until approximately one month prior to the wedding date. Why is that? With so much planning that m... |

As I mentioned in my first post, I wasted no time in starting the wedding planning once we became engaged (okay, so MAYBE I had been browsing venues in the months leading up to the engagement). When Paul and I first started seriously considering venue options, I searched magazines and the internet for HOURS looking for the perfect spot. We started in DC where we found a number of venues that tempted me to put down a deposit then and there. Some of my favorite venues in DC included: The Newseum The Newseum is the perfect balance between the modern feel that I love, and the historic nature... |
I came across Groenland a couple of months ago when I saw this gorgeous wedding on photographer Christine Meintjies’ blog, and it seems like the perfect venue for a couple looking for an affordable, intimate wedding in a beautiful winelands location, along with authentic South African cuisine. Groenland is a real family business, and Kosie and Heléne Steenkamp are third generation owners of the farm. In the last few years Kosie, together with his son Piet, has produced a number of premium wines that have won several awards. These wines are available at a 10% discount to wedding parties, so... |
The Dean Johnson Gallery is a great new venue where you can host your next event. It can accomodate 150-200 with high top table. This would be perfect for a networking event. They are located at 646 Mass. Ave. in Indy.Cost? $500 - a steal considering you also get to look at some fabulous art!... |
