Seems that Lego junkies are getting more and more creative these days finding ways to incoporate Legos into their wedding receptions. Lego favors, caketoppers, save-the-dates, invitations, rings, cufflinks – even place cards. I’m loving the Lego candy! Photos: Sherrie Blondin PhotographyFlowers: Fleurs de FranceWhen the vases are in shapes your guests may never have seen before, like the ones here from Leora and Eric's wedding in Guyserville, CA, you can keep the flowers simple and still make a big impact. If your florist doesn't have any, buy 'em yourself. You can use them again in your home after your wedding or give them to your bridesmaids as thank you gifts. ... |
A few weeks ago, I heard a great tip from New York wedding planner, Lindsay Landman: Instead of investing all your reception decor budget into your centerpieces, focus more on the overall aesthetic of your tables with custom linens and tableware. She showed us an example of two tables, each priced at $300. The first table was topped with an amazing $300 floral centerpiece and set with standard white linens and dinnerware. The second: A table with a small clustering of flowers, custom linens, chargers, and glassware -- also $300. The ... |

There are a lot of traditions associated with weddings, and doubtless you’ll horrify someone if you don’t stick with at least the most common of them. Fortunately, there’s plenty of room for creativity and interest in the reception, which is much less proscribed. All you need to have a great reception is a good answer to each of these questions: What form is the music going to come in? (Yes, you do have to have music.) Is there enough space for people to dance? Is there a place for the bride and groom to stand up in front of everyone? Do you have a photographer arranged?... |
Looking for ways to entertain your guests beyond the dance floor? At Christie and Owen's wedding in Ontario, the couple hired two professionals to roll cigars for their guests. It's not the first time we've heard of a cigar rolling stand at a wedding, but this is a great example of using unique entertainment to pull a theme together: Along with mojito kit favors and salsa lessons at the reception, the cigar rollers added a lot to the “Miami nightclub” vibe the couple was going for. Are you having any unique entertainment at your reception? ... |
Trying to pick a cool theme? I absolutely love these winter-inspired details from Alicia and Steven's wedding in Detroit. The black-and-white escort cards stamped with aqua snowflakes and attached to aqua ribbon are sophisticated and seasonal. They also tie in with the signature cocktail -- a "sleightini" -- made with vodka, blue curacao and lemon. If you don't want a seasonal theme, then go for something color coordinated. Your caterer can dye almost any cocktail to match your color scheme -- think purple champagne! Photo by Arising Images Check out green ... |
Today's post isn't so much a real wedding...it's actually not even relevant to the blog at all. It's a baby shower! BUT, it's such a funky, completely unique shower, that it could provide hours of inspiration for anyone looking to throw an eclectic, fun wedding reception filled with oh-so-unique handmade touches and details. Beth Helmstetter sent me these images from the shower that she planned for her best friend... Brown may not seem a suitable color for making the entire wedding reception in it, but we would want you to take into consideration this tone, because it can offer you a great range of possibilities and in the same time the event can look special in comparison with others. You have to know, first of all, that you can encounter several combinations to be used together with brown and they are: pink, purple, orange, blue, black, white, and red, green, yellow. So, think seriously what combinations you would love to apply for and how do you imagine your wedding reception looking like – it’s an ... |
There’s nothing wrong with a nicely presented plate of meat and potatoes—for a fancy dinner out with your fiancé, that is. When it comes to your wedding reception, however, wouldn’t you like to serve up something with a little more pizzazz? Something that will get guests talking, moving, perhaps even salivating in anticipation a little? Something that says, “This here is a celebration, folks. Let’s have some fun!” Courtney Campbell of Campbell’s Catering sure thinks so. And she and her culinary crew are catering to wedding couples who share her passion for food that looks elega... |
