Hi friends. Before I launch into my fantastic news – I wanted you let you all know that I have really enjoyed getting to know you. I had no idea what to expect when I decided to jump from just Twitter to the blogosphere and you’ve welcomed me with open arms. I try to keep the cheese factor down but I needed to have this moment, thank you. I should also tell you that this was originally titled “You’re Name Here” – after posting it this morning with fresh eyes, I realized my major misspelling. How embarrassing (I judged me, you can too). I quickly changed it and added this explanatio... |
Sunday was day of experimenting with my collection of woodtype, mixing inks, & getting the press up & rolling. I focused on sisters - my sister & Rich's sister - because they have beautiful names & they are two of my favorite people, of course! I started with my own name in yellow, then mixed a beautiful chartreuse just for Deb. Though my sister's favorite colors are pink & purple, I mixed this blue-green that reminded me of the sea & Maine, where I am from & where my sister still lives, so sea green it was. (illustration via Bride’s) I’m not a terribly sparkly kind of woman. I could have had a diamond – or any gemstone – engagement ring. I chose a sterling silver frog. I could have had any kind of embellishment on my wedding gown. I chose handmade silk lace. I could have worn any jewelry on my wedding day. Again, all silver without gems. In general I’ve ignored nearly every style trend that sparkles for the better part of fifty years now, and I doubt seriously that I’m going to change on that. Glitter just isn’t me. And yet I found myself intrigued by th... |
