Let me start out this post by saying this should not even be a question! We finally booked our “real” honeymoon last week for January 2013 and I couldn’t be more pleased. Originally I looked up different places, got some ideas of prices for flights and all-inclusive resorts to see what we could afford. We had places we were dying to go to, but the price just wasn’t right (aka Bora Bora, Brazil, Maldives). Even though our parents are paying for the wedding, we still couldn’t justify spending 10K+ of our own money for one week’s vacation! I even know someone ... |
At least half of my wedding guests have to fly across the Atlantic to come to my wedding…I didn’t make it easy on them. That’s a high ratio of traveling guests and a big headache if you like to control everything the way I do. When I knew I would be requiring so many people to fly, I asked around and researched what other destination brides do. I found out that having a travel agent who can handle all of your guests’ travel plans is helpful. So, I organized with a travel agent I know to help all of our guests get their flights and their pre or post wedding plans organized in Europe. Sh... |
Filed under: Honeymoons Getty Images Why should you work with a travel agent when you can book an entire trip online with the click of a few buttons? Tammy Levent, owner of Elite Travel, lets you in on how travel agents work, and how you can benefit from working with them. Why Use a Travel Agent When You Can Book Online? However, a great agent can make all the difference in the outcome of your trip. Here are a few things to look for when choosing a travel agent. What professional certifications do they carry? What professional organizations are they members of? Why are they recommending the packages th... |

Filed under: Alternative Weddings, Culture ClashYou've heard of "the reading of the banns?" Those who opt for it often see it as a quaint tradition, a pleasingly community-focused way to state your intention to marry, and a little more personal than merely paying a fee and signing the requisite documentation. In this tradition, some 800 years old, the minister of the church in which the couple will be married reads the banns for three weeks, after which point the couple can be married. Depending on the jurisdiction, a license may also be required, but not everywhere. In Ontario, you need only ... |
