Usually, I really hate trash-the-dress sessions. They just seem like such a waste.  Gorgeous dresses ruined by mud, paintballs, food, you name it. I would much prefer to see a wedding dress donated or saved than trashed. But this session by Viera Photographics is the exception to my rule. The bride, Jennie, bought this dress specifically for this session, so that she and her groom, Johnny, could create a super fun outfit to wear to her bridal shower.  Who knew paint could be so cute? ...

I’m loving all of the photos in Critsey Rowe’s recent TTD session! The concept of a bride on horseback is great!  Are you doing a trash the dress session? E. ...

Many of you have probably read about the latest trends in wedding photography, but even seeing examples of these trends can leave you wondering, “What the heck is THAT?”  As you plan your wedding photography, you may hear a photographer mention some of these options, or you may want to ask about incorporating these trends into your wedding photography. Earlier today I featured the Real Wedding of Jenna and Barry that took place at the Marco Island, Marriott Resort and Spa in Florida. And, now it's time for their Trash the Dress Session with Roger of Thomspson Photos. This session was held at the same location as the wedding and features a beautiful monogram parasol from Cherin of Customized Wedding Creations. I just love how the parasol is the perfect accent that completes the look....

  • As much as I love my wedding dress (though I haven’t seen it since August and won’t see it again until December fitting), I know that any future daughter will not wear it and paying for it to be stored in a preservation box seems like a waste.  So I’ve been pondering trashing it.  I’m not literally going to throw it away….at first.  I’m talking about trashing it.  There is a fairly recent trend of trashing the dress.  You’ve probably heard of it.  Photos taken after the wedding with the bride in her dress and she’s in the ocean or a mud puddle, destroying her dress. • (aletha, anne, blair)On Sunday morning, I headed up to my family's cottage on Silver Lake in Mears, Michigan to orchestrate the Trash the Dress session that Amy, Jen + I have been planning since January. We had four participants and both photographers did two sessions each, which worked out perfectly. We had such a blast that I'm already thinking about next year's event.Besides hopping into the cold waters of Silver Lake + Lake Michigan, I broke out my family's vintage Schwinn tandem bike. I love the shots of Anne + Blair on the bike and am kicking myself for not doing this when Greg + I did o...

Honestly, I’m having a hard time attaching the word “trash” to this post–it’s just so elegant, artistic and captivating! Erik & Colleen look stunning and absolutely comfortable along the shoreline and against the setting sun. Could a day be any more perfect for Erik and Colleen and Canadian wedding photographer Samantha Erin Photography? I don’t think so. The location is Wasaga Beach, Ontario and the rest is romantic and flawless–from Colleen’s little white dress and sweet black heels, to the dramatic storytelling of an unfolding sky. Enjoy. ...
