One of the biggest trends for 2012 weddings is texture. A great place to add texture besides the dress or the cake is in the bouquets and floral arrangements! With bouquets you’re able to mix and match flowers and leafy foliage giving you the perfect amount of texture for your wedding rather than a bouquet made up completely of different blooms. Plus, you also get to incoporate the nature trend too! via My Apple Green Wedding via Coastal Heart Country Soul via Tying the Knot For the perfect wedding florals, try Event Divas, Keith Watson Productions, and The Plant Shoppe....

  • In this off-season, I have been expanding my repertoire a bit. I have long eschewed the use of any funky Photoshop effects on any of my images but I am in a playful mood these days. Shooting straight images and then simply only color correcting them has left me thirsty for more, um, art (I suppose). Here is an image of Ketan and his grandma (that's my mother: do you see the family resemblance?) My choices of hues and saturations are inexplicable. As I worked on this image, I felt much like how Jackson Pollack would have felt (this is an incredible stretch, but please humor me) as he poured, ...

Recently picked up a cleanly designed, ultra-modern chest of drawers for extra storage, yet can't seem to stop looking at complex, ornate and embellished pieces of furniture. It's all about textures and layers these days, and love the worldly, well-travelled look that's showing up in décors all over the place. Quite taken with this Pink Mother of Pearl Inlay Chest of Drawers (above), which is really quite festive, and for fabric textures, Ruth Singer's chair (below) is a wonderful combination of rustic and delicate.{And thanks to those of you who were wondering about the lack of updates and t...

If you aren't already a faithful reader of the Natalie Moser Blog, your eyes are missing out on quite a treat. Recently, Natalie posted the wedding of Shelby & Rich that took place at the Rancho Valencia. If your "wedding colors" are pink or yellow {or both}, you must go take a look.My favorite pictures from this wedding weren't the ones showcasing the bright and vibrant colors. Rather, my eyes landed on these texture rich images...and I haven't been able to pull them away since. Take a little looksie:{Above} One of my favorite "first look" photos. {Below} Reminds me a little bit of a wedd...

I had to learn the hard way that it is texture, and not color, that provides a rich landscape with depth and character. I once threw a party with different shades of my “favorite” colors. I just knew it was going to look hot, until I put it together, and well, it was not. Everything looked so dingy. And then Farah jumped in and started mixing and matching different materials and textures. Automatically it went from a 0 star design to a 10 star design. I never forget a lesson: combining different textures adds a creative voice to a designer. Our Urban Prettiness palette works because of ou...
