• Donna and Tenny It’s always one of my favourite moments- sharing the story of someone I know has read Polka Dot Bride throughout their engagement, has shared snippets and glimpses of their life . Then they share their wedding photos and it’s like looking through those of a friend, it’s her smiling face, there’s the menus she talked about making, there’s the candy bar she spoke of and discussed with the other girls. Today’s wedding is of Donna and Tenny. I’ve followed Donna on Twitter for a long time and seen her talk of her wedding plans, from finding a photographer to celebrati...

Meet our happy couple   With the US Open starting August 29th, Kaptur is excited about tennis and we’re not alone: introducing Jessica and Steven Nelson, a perfect love match. This tennis beau tied the knot last year, serving up some tennis touches.   Entire bridal party. I'm loving those flowers. Check out their beautiful slideshow here.   Both Jessica and Steven had tennis ingrained into their life from a very early age. When they joined The Iowa State University Tennis Club, it was clear they had met their match. And, in their senior year when they both became officers of the Tenni...

  • With the US Open in high gear, tennis is upon us. Rodderick, Nadal and Federer can really motivate you to spruce up your backhand. So whether you are an amateur or semi-pro, throw a US Open watching party or a tennis themed party at any time of year. (Even cold places have indoor tennis courts). Necessary objects: 1. Reserve a few tennis courts (whether indoor or outdoor). 2. Order tennis themed invitations. (recommend your guests wear white)3. Requests your guests to bring racquets and you can supply the balls.4. Have Gatorade and high protein bars on hand for snacking.5. When guests arriv...

We’re sending you off for the weekend with a little tid bit from a recent Exquisite Weddings Magazine shoot that I worked on. I had the honor of contributing wardrobe and prop styling for a really fun concept that focused on the bridal party. I’ll be sharing more from this shoot later, but for now, here are some fun shots of the groomsmen doing preppy man things–drinking scotch, smoking pipes, and competing. (When it comes to styling your bridal party, I think letting the fellas be unique and show off their style is another really wonderful way to add some personality to thei...

A Brief History of the Tennis BraceletContemporary Tennis Bracelets $32 - $68What exactly is a "Tennis Bracelet?"  Lots of brides wear a dainty bracelet on the their wrist, and many choose a thin "in-line bracelet."  Exactly as it sounds, an in-line bracelet has diamonds lined up in a single row.  The tennis bracelet term is attributed to tennis star Chris Evert who halted the 1987 US Open to retrieve her lost in-line diamond bracelet, created by George Bedewi.Ms. Evert instantly created a new trend for bracelets and many tennis players can be seen wearing them today.  The ...

  • We created this tennis racket cake for a Bar Mitzvah at the Metropolis Country Club in NY. Along with the cake, we included tennis ball shaped cupcakes. We received this great thank-you email from Sarah: Hi Anne, I just wanted to say thank you so much, and let you know how amazing Matthew’s tennis racket cake was. It was really unbelievable, and so delicious too. Everyone was raving about it, and it was just perfect. The cupcakes were awesome also. So thank you so much for your creativity and your professionalism, and for helping to make Matthew’s Bar-Mitzvah(and his candlelighting) a ...

  • There’s always something fun to share. Sometimes I get to share amazing new sessions and other times, it’s a bit more personal and unrelated to a session. Such as today’s post. My brother-in-law, Dentyn, is a tennis player. He’s a pretty excellent player. He and his tennis partner, Colton, made it to Regionals this year for doubles. We made the trip to Corpus Christi to watch him.  Our hope was that they’d fight their way to state, but to our dismay, they lost to the second team they played that day. Thankfully, we were able to go and share the experience.  These are just a few pho...
