I've decided to start an ongoing series featuring some of my favorite photographers who have shot my gowns and headpieces over the years. Most have gone above and beyond the call of duty, working with such love and sensitivity that in the end I had an awesome study of images worthy of not one but two or three editorials. Some I worked with are wedding photographers dabbling in a couple photography genres; others concentrate on fashion but all have had the instinct it seems for shooting my creations as if each piece had been their own . . . I met Stuart Li... |
I've come across my 1st bride for the 2011 wedding season that does not like cake. Now I've informed her that I still plan on cake tasting on her behalf, but will come up with an alternative for her dessert after the entree. A fake wedding cake will be involved for the cake cutting ceremony, plus one of my newest loves...dessert shooters. These yummy little shots of heaven typically contain crumbled cake, a pudding or whipped cream, and fresh fruit stacked inside of a shot glass. Can't you see it... Your guests are seated, feeling good after that GREAT entree you provided, and now comes out o... |

What could be cuter than mini milkshakes? Sweet, delicious little shooters that are beyond perfect for a little late night party snack! Styled by the talented Rhiannon of Hey Gorgeous Events and photographed by Jenna McKenzie Photography, this mini milkshake shoot is one of the CUTEST submissions we have had. Rhiannon was searching for fun + clever twists on signature drinks for her client’s weddings and VOILA! Mini milkshakes popped into her head! Not just mini milkshakes, but chocolate rimmed and sprinkle covered marshmallow mini milkshakes! The best part is you can make any sort of m... |
Are you looking for a new idea for your wedding reception? We have seen all kinds of wedding cakes from tall traditional cakes to wacky crazy cakes to a wide array of cupcakes of every kind and filling. We have also seen an endless amount of candy dessert bars at wedding receptions. Now another new invention is cake shooters. A company in Winter Park, Florida called Sprinkles Custom Cakes has a cake in a push-up form. It contains layers of cake and icing and all kinds of varieties. This could be done in a glass as well but the concept of having your cake in a plastic push-up form is s... |
It’s that time of year again! I’m looking for some hip, friendly, and talented people for second shooting and assisting opportunities at weddings (and some photo shoots) in upcoming months. The second shooter I seek loves people and loves photography. You’re not too proud to hold a bag or go around a reception for table shots, but you’ve shot at least a few weddings on your own so you know what you’re doing and have all of the necessary equipment - including backup gear. I’m looking for second shooters who are up for any experience, but aren’t trying to pass off the images as if... |
Have I got a real treat for you today from Andre and Suzanne of Belle Momenti. This husband and wife photography team based in the UK specializes in destination weddings. Visiting Venice and shooting weddings there, both were left totally inspired by the storied and antiquated backdrop. In their own words: "Having fallen in love completely with this beautiful city, we wanted to recreate a Venetian-themed photo shoot back in the UK but were seeking the right venue. Through research, we concluded that there are not many bridal images along this theme and feel tha... |
Here’s a fun Halloween party idea that can be tailored to adults OR kids… Jello Jiggler “Bites” or “Shots” with gummy body parts trapped inside! I tried this idea both ways; the orange jigglers were non-alcoholic and the yellow ones were the “cocktail” version – utilizing water and vodka – and both worked out great! You could do the “trapped gummy” thing with regular jello shots (served from shot glasses or plastic cups), but the “edible” idea sounded especially appropriate for a jiggler/shot garnished that calls for a gummy candy inside… and I also love the ide... |
I love working with a second shooter, in fact, I will only work a wedding with a second shooter. Like I tell clients, there is only one of me, and I can’t be everywhere at all times. While sometimes I wish I could clone myself, it’s just not possible. Having a second shooter is not only to my benefit, but your benefit as well. When clients ask if not having a second shooter will affect the cost of their collection choice, the answer is no. Why? Because I believe that having a second shooter is a huge asset to your wedding day. I spend before the ceremony time with the bride. And my seco... |
A few days ago, JD and I spoke about how things have changed. In life. In the business. In my shoe collection. When we thought back to specifics, it was a perfect way to measure growth and mistakes. Oh, like that pair white wedges I bought out of impulse. Do I need to repeat the white part again? Because, really, they're as tragic as they sound. JD--the normal person in this duo--spoke about his role as a second shooter. If you'll remember, he posted a Top Ten List of Tips for Second Shooters in 2009, but much has changed for him since then. Besides having to walk next to me while I w... |
