Filed under: Gifts and Registries, Bridal Beauty Did you know that satin pillows are not just luxurious, they are good for your skin? It's true! Cotton absorbs moisture, and while this is a good thing for keeping your skin dry on sweaty days, it ... keeps your skin dry. Lay your face on a cotton pillow overnight, and moisture is pulled from your skin and hair.Lay your face on a satin pillow, on the other hand, and moisture stays where it belongs -- in your skin. And this pillow is made of quality BRIDAL satin. What better gift for the bridal couple? Or for a bridal shower? It comes in so many ...

I'm terribly excited about this dress redesign for Leila. The original dress, her grandmother-in-law-to-be's (still with me?), was also worn by her future mother-in-law for her own wedding. Leila wanted to honor tradition, but it was soooo much dress. It had a high neckline, billowy leg of mutton sleeves with lace cuffs, a peaked 1930s waistline, gathered skirt, and truly the longest train I have ever seen. The whole dress was made from drop-dead glamorous slipper satin, and it weighed about 10 pounds. What I did: dropped the lace neckline and bound it with a narrow bias strip of the satin. Rec...

  • If you're looking for a brown, double-faced satin ribbon to wear as a sash, I have one I'd like to sell. I originally purchased to wear for my wedding in 2007, however, I ended up wearing a magnolia one. This ribbon was purchased from Romantic Flowers in January 2007, is 5 yards long and 2.75" wide. Make me an offer via email if you're interested :: aletha(at)pearlsevents(dot)com. It's been stored away from dust and comes from a smoke-free home. Please note, in this photo, I have it wrapped around my 29" waist twice and then tied as shown. ...

Simple and Elegant, that’s why this has always been my favorite.  Once, while shopping in an upscale bridal boutique, a chance encounter gave me the opportunity to help shave about $300 off a young bride’s day of serious shopping.  An excited clerk came over to me (not knowing I had been in the business many years myself) and said a customer needed a second opinion on a veil, and would I give it?  The bride peeked out under a waterfall of heavily embroidered tulle that extended over her shoulders, down her back, spilling out all over the floor, the way any self-respecting $4...

Completely fell in love with this photograph of Jen Gotch's whirlwind trip to Vegas -- the lacy strapless dress with blue satin sash and matching shoes are just perfect and très romantic.Carla Bruni was said to have worn a sleeveless, knee-length Hermès dress with a 10 cm-wide marine blue ribbon for her wedding to French President Nicolas Sarkozy. {Unfortunately, since no photographers or press were allowed at the "secret" ceremony, we may never see the dress, but Carla was described as ravishing by Francois Lebel, the mayor of the 8th district of Paris, who officiated their marriage.}Above,...

Filed under: Gifts and RegistriesRegistering for wedding gifts is your chance to pick out the things you want, but would never splurge on for yourself. It would be greedy of you to only register for top-dollar items, but when you register for your bedroom, why don't you add a few luxury items to the standard gifts on your list? If you've never slept on satin sheets, you don't know what you're missing. If you are lucky enough to own a set, it must be hard for you to sleep in any bed but your own. Nice satin sheets start at around $120 per set, so registering for something like this won't make y...
