Now, we’re not in the habit of getting all political on this blog, but we thought this was a noteworthy occasion and one that shouldn’t go without applause. In the Winter 2010 issue of MS Weddings, there is for the first time to our knowledge, a same sex wedding! If that’s not a statement about the way the wedding industry feels about such a sensitive topic, we’re not sure what is! Go Martha (and team)! Congrats Jeremy and Andrew, though clearly you did not send this to us, nor are you reading our blog. But congrats on your lovely wedding anyway. And hooray for letting people love an...

Depending on what type of wedding vendor you speak with, the wedding industry has either remained steady or is lacking business. Some areas, especially affordable travel packages, seem to do well, while many higher-end jewelry companies may be suffering a bit in this era of recovering economy, high metal prices and even climbing diamond prices. But one area for growth in the wedding industry happens to involve same-sex weddings.Same-sex weddings are great for the wedding industry in general, but more specifically for venues, caterers, florists, dress and suit makers, bands, DJs, photographe...

  • As mentioned yesterday, we're taking this week to celebrate the legality of same-sex weddings in New York State. These photos are from a wedding we did a couple of years ago at Ventana Inn in Big Sur, California. Margo and Dawn got married during the short period of time here in California during which same-sex weddings were legal. Their wedding was a beautiful celebration of their family, as they had already adopted two gorgeous little boys together.Hope you enjoy these photos by Thayer Allyson Gowdy....

  • Yesterday, hundreds of same-sex couples, from retirees to college students, rushed to town hall offices across New York to legally wed for the first time in the state's history. New York is the sixth and largest state to allow same-sex marriage and we hope California won't fall far behind. As you all remember we were very close a couple of years ago, but the rights were promptly taken away. To celebrate New York's victory, we wanted to post some of our favorite weddings from California. Today, we are featuring two of the most gorgeous men we know, Joe and Lallo. Stay tuned for the beautifu...
