It was late. And we were trying to pack our bags. Perhaps I could blame the traveling, the heat, the huge dinner, but, either way, we were not being ourselves. We were laughing at the stupidest things and I was pretending to act all deep. We spoke about politics, ethnocentricity, and being American. He made fun of the fact that I wear a big American flag t-shirt and sing patriotic songs at inappropriate times. Oh, and remember that one time you made an American flag cake?! And then I asked why Americans refer to Florence as Florence, not Firenze, it's actual name? Why Rome, not Roma? ... |

In August we are doing a wedding in Rome. I just returned from the site inspection and over the next few posts I am going to share my thoughts and inspirations with you. There is no more magnificent city than Rome~you could get lost for days. Below is the church for the ceremony. Can you imagine Bach being played over the organ there as you process down the aisle! We are such a young nation. Can you imagine the church was built in the 1600’s. Chiesa Nuova-Santa Maria in Vallicella The church of Santa Maria in Vallicella was begun in 1575 on the initiative of St Philip Neri, founder of the ... |
One of the greatest pleasures of traveling is being exposed to other cultures and of course…. architecture. One of the many things my father and I shared was a love, or perhaps an obsession of architecture. In Rome there were beautiful works of art all over. From sculptures to paintings, art was a big part in Roman culture.Unlike the Greeks simplicity in architecture, the Romans emphasized grandeur. Building of breath-taking palaces, temples, and stadiums showed the power and dignity of Rome. Enjoy some of my favorites from my recent trip. If you haven’t been to Rome, one of the mos... |
Today, I’ve been accosted by spring. It is unseasonably warm here in Italy and as such, it seems we’ve wrangled the Orange County weather and brought it with us. A lady on the train told us yesterday that spring has arrived in Rome. Everyone is in the best of moods–seems that’s always the case when the sun makes herself known. Today, I thought a lovely inspiration board would set things off for us. There are some spring flowers via Martha Stewart, some gorgeous spring makeup that I must make a part of my life, and some lovely typography by Eye Fly Design. I’m carrying a little Audrey... |

Ciao! Back in New York, Chris asked Jaime to pick an envelope out of the five in his hand. Each had a destination to a place she always wanted to visit. She chose Rome, Italy! I couldn’t have been more excited to plan a proposal in Rome since the Yes Girls and I studied abroad in Rome during college. After talking to Chris about Jaime’s loves and finding out she always wanted to have a picnic in a beautiful place, we knew just the spot! He proposed at Villa d’Este in Tivoli surrounded by fountains and gardens; if you browse through the photos taken by the fabulous Rochelle Cheever with R... |
