[From Flickr via the wonderful Earthy Friendly Weddings]Perhaps one of my favorite posts EVER on this blog (after 300+...): A lovely wedding gift from a bride's great aunt and uncle--rain from her wedding day, collected in a recycled light bulb. I think I could deal with the rain if I had such a beautiful keepsake!...

So yesterday Jake and I were out at lunch and we overheard the employees at the restaurant complaining about the rain. Jake immediately jumped up and ran outside(leaving me at the table) to see if it was true. It Was! When I went to check it out I smelled that wonderful smell and felt some raindrops before the 2 minute rain spell ended. We knew we were acting silly but we still loved it. I even took a picture:The left over raindrops are in the bottom left of the picture.Found on Etsy:by JKiyomiGood Wednesday to all!Love, Jac...

Recently, I've had the honor of doing so many great outdoor fall weddings. But, in the past month, three of them got a nice wedding gift from mother nature; rain. While I try to prepare for everything, there are some things I cannot control. While it isn't always a happy phone call or email I have to make, the truth is, the earlier you are prepared for the possibility of rain, the better. Here are some tips to help you out:1) Always have a rain plan: you cannot predict everything, so if your wedding is falling in any months where rain could be a possibility, the best thing to do is to have a ...

  • I’ve always dreamed of an outdoor wedding, so we chose our venue based on their beautiful terrace where the ceremony can take place. Obviously, it won’t be so perfect if the weather doesn’t cooperate. My wedding isn’t until October and I’ve been looking at various sites to try to get some sort of comforting news that it will be a rain-free day. I know that the weathermen usually can’t even get the predictions right for the very next day, but there are several sites that do try to predict months out. Weather.com has a link under their family section where you can see the weather co...

Well, it's Spring in Washington, D.C. and that means rain. Since today is a rainy day, my thoughts turned naturally to fun ways to stay dry (or shaded from the sun) at our many upcoming weddings. We love Bella Umbrella for their fabulous umbrellas and parasols. There are so many amazing designs to personalize your wedding! If you are looking for classic white umbrellas, you can also try the options at Think Wedding.I love the look of umbrellas for photos, as well. Even if the sun is shining! I keep a stash of white and black umbrellas in my car for rain or photo ops. So if it rains on your w...

Here are a some more of my favorite photos that I've taken. I'm in the midst of planning a photo shoot with the beautiful Maddie of Johnathan and Maddie. :) I'm not yet familiar with my surrounding areas so I need to find the best areas that will turn out the best pictures. Maybe I'll take advantage of the wonderful Temecula vineyards. I hope everyone is having a great Labor Day weekend and unlike me will not have to work on Labor Day. Thankfully I will still be able to squeeze in some festivities afterward. It'll be an exciting week around here with my husband starting his new Apple job and a...
