About a year ago I remember seeing on TV a bride who wanted her wedding theme to be all about peacocks. Peacock feathers, peacock colors and even real peacock at the reception. Back then, my reaction was the same as her wedding planner: Huh?!?! Peacock?!?! That sounded just too much!!! Today, if you look around, peacocks are everywhere… There are so many ways that you can actually incorporate the peacock theme into your wedding and go over the top!! It really does look beautiful… If peacocks are on your mind, here are some inspirations: Image credits: 1. jennifer dery photograp... |
I’ve got a day full of posts on Once Wed, but wanted to kick off this morning introducing another one of our lovely sponsors, Peacock Photography. Sisters, Cat and Cyndea, describe their style as pretty contemporary but not too modern. By blending into the background they are able to capture the events as they naturally unfold, finding the craziness, laughter, and beauty. Even though Peacock Photography is based in Austin, Tx, they absolutely love to travel and meet new people. To see more of their delightful images, check out their website or blog. Thanks, ladies!... |

This is one of the the fanciest cupcake that I have ever laid my eyes upon. I can’t even imagine the work that went into this. The amount of time it would take to make a slew of these for a wedding might be a little bit insane…however, I could totally see it as a big cupcake for the top of a cupcake tower…can’t you? Or maybe even a few of these peacock cupcakes amongst a bunch of teal cupcakes, like the one that makes up the body. Either way I found this cupcake on Pinterest and I knew it must be blogged about. The cupcake was inspired by another Peacock Cake th... |

Okay, I'm not normally a fan of "tail/tale" puns, but since I'm experiencing a peacock theme this week I couldn't resist. The first project is a ruffle shrug. Kirsty lives in Ontario and will be having an intimate wedding ceremony of 2 on a mountaintop in Slovenia this summer--she found me through etsy and was hoping to have a shrug made to match her shoes. Shipping me one of her shoes was discussed, but knowing the postal service, I worried about that one. So we hit on a solution: paint swatches! She hied down to Home Depot with her dancing slippers in hand, and matched them to a color: "Peac... |

I’ve noticed quite a few brides have been incorporating peacock feathers in their wedding decor recently. Peacock feathers have such a distinctive look, they can easily become an overwhelming element if they’re not used carefully. I think it would be lovely if a wedding is inspired by the rich colors and luxe feel of peacock feathers while the actual feathers are only used sparingly. It seems that Carrie Bradshaw's blue feather in the Sex and the City Movie has inspired many, including myself, to find peacock inspired items for weddings and events. So here is my inspiration board for this hot trend. I'm inspired by the jewel toned colors, which includes deep teal, emerald, and eggplant with hints of amber or gold. My inspiration gown is reminiscent of the peacock tail with its layered tiered train. The shape of the peacock feather inspires the peaks in the ceremony location as well as the groom's boutonniere.Details of my inspiration:Eggplant Dress: Romona KavesaPeacock Dre... |
