I love throwing parties--being a host, setting a mood....It's especially great because it helps me remember what it's like to be on the "other side"--to feel a bit of stress to pull off my own event, versus helping others plan their own perfect day. While my husband's 30th birthday wasn't a wedding celebration, it was a catered event for 50 friends and family in our home. We served Asian food and even gave out chopsticks to guests as a party favor! The party was a little while back, but I received photos from my dear friend Max last night. A special shot out to Mick, the Elite British DJ, for... |
This post is not about the dress, or the bridesmaids dresses … It’s about my attire for the other wedding festivities. While Nick and the guys are in the Outer Banks this weekend getting into bachelor party trouble (!!), I’ll be shopping with my mother and sister. The bridal shower location and itinerary is a surprise, but my sister said something like one of these would be appropriate: {credit J.Crew} {credit Nordstrom} I already have a cute, flirty dress for the bachelorette party, but I did find new earrings to match. And for the rehearsal dinner, I’d like to get something in a sh... |
For my 2 cents - there are other types of cancer that affect women.PLEASE GET YOUR YEARLY PAP TEST!!!Over ten years ago, I was diagnosed with abnormal cells, found during a routine pap test. Pre-cancer, they called it, although very close. I had laser surgery. Afterwards, you have pap tests every 3-4 months, then every 6, finally back to yearly. Somewhere in between, they found it again. Laser again. Months later, it either came back or was in a different area. This time, cutting surgery.Needless to say, I was a wreck! I felt like I was living on a time bomb. Where did normal go?? I did have a... |
Days married: 19 Check out the new header! Yes, I am back! I am slightly nervous to be back. I don’t know why. Perhaps it has to do with not wanting to accept it’s all over – or perhaps because … Continue reading → ... |
The other Jessica is none other than Jessica Claire. I don't remember when it was that I first saw her work, but I was smitten. One of her latest weddings was just adorable, so I had to post about it.First Hillary and Peter had the most adorable engagement session, previously blogged about here and as evidenced again here:Then followed it up with a wedding where Jessica Claire captured these images:The couple got ready together the morning of their wedding. Why not spend as much time as possible together on your big day!?Waiting on the future hubby...with a glass of champagne, of course. Not ev... |
Love is not merely a feeling; it is an act of will that consists of preferring, in a constant manner, the good of others to the good of oneself. –Pope John Paul II — from Purity 365: Daily Reflections on True Love Love and Soul Always, Kay (Photo: PositivePsychologyNews)... |
If the examples mentioned previously didn’t seem to be enough for you then it means that the ones with which we want to continue are going to satisfy your need pretty much. We’re sure that you’re going to find all of these really useful and some examples that definitely need to be taken into account…. We’re sure that you’re going to enjoy these pretty much and that you’re going to find these useful whenever it comes to applying for nice accessories in the big day. I can hardly believe it. A year after getting engaged, our wedding weekend is finally upon us. In about 30 minutes {literally, I am cutting it that fine} we will get in the car to travel to Devon to where we are getting married. {All images from Author’s personal collection} This week we have made elderflower cordial, picked and dried rose petals for confetti, made the bird cake toppers, labels for the napkins and packed for the honeymoon. And I have now run out of time. So I am keeping this short and sweet: see you on the other side. © Elizabeth Anne Designs: The Wedding Blog, 2009 | P... |
When my parents got married everyone’s ring was basically the same: a solid band- gold or silver (before the advent of platinum). These days couples are looking for an expression of their style and love. Rings are a declaration of marriage and also a show of personality. I recently came across a lovely wedding photographer Jules Bianchi whose work is just beautiful. One of the most interesting categories on her site, that I had not seen before, is the “rings and other things”. Just one look at these photos and you’ll not only want to dive into her site but take a look at how you can ma... |
Often, I’ve heard clients lament that they don’t want their guest list to include “strangers”. Guests that they don’t know or the flavor of the month from their friend who always has a different man or woman in tow. And even more often, we see couples who simply think it seems cold to address an invitation with “So and So and Guest”. So, frequently they will opt to fill in the name of the person’s significant other, figuring that this a) seems more personal and b) will prevent the person from say, bringing their best friend should their spouse or boyfriend/... |
