This board feels to me like eighteenth century romance. With its glistening golds, rich reds, and black, it's something straight out of a Gothic romance novel but all the while super sophisticated. While it looks super luxe, the look can be easily pulled off on a budget with some simple DIY. The pomegranate seating cards are an easy DIY that make a huge statement, as do the DIY gold painted leaf centerpieces and gold leaves in the rose bouquet tied with a velvet ribbon - all are an opulent nod to fall. Splurge by adding some hand calligraphy in places like your envelopes, place cards and menus... |

This week's styling is all about celebrating Earth's richest hues. It's irresistably neutral with cool ocean jewel tones. This dreamy palette can spur your imagination for a late night dinner party on the patio or warming by the bonfire at a beachside reception. Whatever your inspiration, these dramatic colors are perfect for autumn and are seasonal favorites. Stair photography by Our Labor of Love (Libby + Weldon's Moroccan wedding is seriously to die for and we love the architecture) Katie Quinn Davies food styling never ceases to disappoint. . . . while it may be wonderful to explore the possibilities in the clean lines of minimalist and modern interiors, at the end of it all, it always comes back to the luxe warmth and sheer opulence of intricate inlaid floors and elegant chaises, breathtaking wall murals and tufted chesterfields, delicately carved and paneled walls and gold & crystal chandeliers, enveloped by yards of pooling drapery and autumn evenings spent perched on leopard print cushions by fire . . .{images: the diversion project; lonny via greige; flickr via julia; elle decor via greige; nicholas haslam, sheer opulenc... |
Uncomplicated elegance. Coastal magic, with a bit of vintage woven within the simple details. Beautiful, but what does it mean? Words, when too easily tossed about can muddle up the expression of a thing. Let's keep this simple and look at what influences a design and final concept. Succulents are amazing. They're like a modern piece of art growing right out of a rock. Check out the hint of teal flirting with the cool tones of the whole color palette. It's not so much that it gives off a matchy matchy vibe, but instead compliments the glass so perfectly it almost hurt... |

Kerry and Ben’s San Diego wedding at the Westgate Plaza hotel was nothing short of amazing. It can easily be described in two words: elegant and opulent. The floral arrangements along with the décor of the ballroom would make anyone gasp in awe. No detail, not even lighting was left to chance. These amazing photos all come courtesy of Heather & Skip of Shadowcatcher Imagery. I have to say that the folks at Shadowcatcher really captured the elegance and luxury of this wedding. Enjoy.  ... |
In my lazy Sunday morning habit of enjoying the Times, my chai latte and perusing the web for pretty things, I came across this beautiful inspiration board at Santa Barbara Wedding Chic, and really, I just had to share in case you haven't already stumbled upon it. It is stunning at first glance of course, but if you take a closer look, this board really borrows from several design genres, and to me that makes it all the more fabulous. The mix of the French Regency decor {chandeliers, opulence & moulding a-plenty!} with the Gatsby-esque groomswear, mid-century vintage-pearl jewelry, very s... |
