Photo: Courtesy of Southern Hospitality While barbecue purists may debate the authenticity of Memphis style barbecue served in New York City, for Southern transplants tying the knot in Yankee territory, I love the idea of hosting the rehearsal dinner or engagement party at a BBQ joint. The city certainly has no lack of delicious barbecue restaurants, but the new Hell's Kitchen outpost of Southern Hospitality serves up some serious style along with deep fried pickle chips, dry-rubbed spareribs, sliced brisket, and other Southern-style favorites. How darling is this rehearsal dinner shot by Katee Grace? It looks like so much fun! ... |
I do a few a year and I love Jennifer's. I worked with her future mother-in-law on this order and we made them similar colors and a swirly pattern to match her invitations. The ribbed metallic envelopes will be such a surprise to their guests.... |
I was flipping through the new Anthropologie catalog last night, and fell in love with this top. Think I could pull this off for the rehearsal dinner instead of a dress? With a cardigan over it, it just might be a possibility.... |
We all know that the rehearsal dinner is a happy, usually informal time for family and friends to get together & relax before the wedding. Traditionally the groom's family hosts the party. Invited are the immediate families, the officiant and spouse, the complete wedding party and their spouses or dates. It is also a good idea to invite out-of-town guests too. It is usually held right after the rehearsal the night before the ceremony. However, it can be held another time if that is more convenient. Using place cards is a good idea to break the ice and help people meet each other. The brid... |
Since Calla Lily Dude and I are fairly nontraditional folks having a fairly nontraditional wedding, you might think we are doing away with the traditional rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. But we still plan on having a rehearsal and meal afterward–a rehearsal lunch instead of a dinner, so we are calling it the rehearsal “dinner.” We figure, all the key players need to be on the same page, so we need to do a rehearsal and what better way to thank folks than to feed them and enjoy each others company before the wedding. We had planned on just eating pizza at his parent’s house after the re... |
At long last! The genius behind NYC's Eataly, Joe Bastianich and Gilt City have teamed up to offer Dine Private -- a very simple way to find, research and book private dining rooms in 100 top New York restaurants. Clever, very clever.... |
www.harvest-restaurant.com On Saturday evening, we dined at our rehearsal dinner venue, called Harvest. It’s a wonderful restaurant, with a great philosophy about local, organic food. They even explained where most of the meats came from (in addition to using local produce). What a perfectly easy solution to what we thought was going to be a headache. Dahlia Dude and I first wanted to save money on the rehearsal and at the same time, have a traditional Wisconsin Fish Fry. Problem was that we could not find a location within walking distance (all other aspects of the wedding are walk able). W... |
We are so excited to share photos our NYC take on a Southern BBQ Supper. Our groom loves Charleston and all things Southern, so it was fun to bring our flair to the City-ya’ll! the bride and groom picked the points that got them where they are today; i didn’t eat anything that night but did try one of these mini BBQ burgers, they definitely give any pulled pork sammy a run for it’s money; we had fabrics in complimentary patterns that we cut with scalloping scissors and affixed the butler cards to- attached with clothespins it was like a backyard laundry line! Our cute Sam greeted guest... |
I have the cutest, most adorable, most steal-worthy wedding coming up next but before I share…I wanted to show you these pictures from the equally sweet rehearsal dinner. The event was sent to us by the fabulous photographer behind the day, Heidi Ryder, and is ALL charm. I mean seriously. How stinking cute is this? The vintage floral linens, the sweet centerpieces, the CELEBRATION sign. Madly, madly in love with all of it. Oh and they actually had an Elvis impersonator to celebrate their Memphis roots. Yep, they are that cool! The full wedding is coming up next! © Style Me Pretty : The Ul... |
