Kim from Brides magazine contacted us back in March asking us if we’d be interested in creating 3 miniature cakes airbrushed to match a gorgeous ombre chiffon textile with shades of tangerine and magenta. The idea was that the three cakes’ colors when lined up side-by-side should mirror the color progression on the chiffon: Here’s the final product published in this fall’s issue. The editor left us a flattering post on the brides Wedded Bits Blog. Thanks Kim! I totally gasped when I saw her creations for the first time—and I think you will too when you pick up this issue of the m... |
A bridesmaids luncheon should be an unforgettable moment. Small silver picture frames with pictures of the bridesmaids at a younger age make perfect place cards. Then go back a generation further by displaying wedding pictures of the parents and grandparents of the bride and groom. It is the special touches that create memories. Hint to extend the life of roses: Add 1/2-teaspoon bleach and 1/2-teaspoon sugar to every 1 1/4-cups of water. Add fresh water daily. What do you do when you’re having a small wedding, or if you’re eloping? Do you forego the cake altogether? Well, you don’t have to. I thought this cake was adorable at first glance. I think my favorite thing about it is the “mixed media.” The artist paints a floral motif, but then pipes some stems in a matching green for emphasis. She paints flowers, but then affixes fondant flowers as well. The combination of the painting and the piping and fondant work give the cake a delightful 3D quality that literally make the details of the cake pop. The bride... |
When I was looking for today’s Cake Love inspiration, it was this cake that caught my attention first. Why should wedding cake’s always have to be big? This one is mini, yet perfectly formed in my books. There’s not much I don’t love about it – I love the idea of having a tiny tiered wedding cake to cut into (just enough to share between you and your groom I say!), I love the old gold colouring and the tiny beads of icing. I also love the garden flowers that have been chosen to decorate it, in a very understated manner – it’s almost like the cake ... |

I’ve received a ton of requests for wedding cake pops so I thought today would be a good time to show you some. Here’s a simple wedding cake shape that you can use and decorate as you desire. Read the basic instructions for making cake pops, and then use following directions to turn them into miniature wedding cakes. After you have rolled out the cake balls, use two different size cookie cutters to make the shapes. You can use small cutters like these to shape the cake and frosting mixture. They’re not too big … the round cutter is about 1 1/2 inches wide and the crinkle cutter is ... |
The wedding cake tradition stems from many symbols. Essentially it is the binding together of two lives, like cake ingredients, into a smooth unified whole. That thought is quite beautiful which is probably why the wedding cake traditions, unlike others, have lasted to this day.Of course there have been innovative and quite mouth watering changes over years. Example flavours: Mocha buttercream, Chocolate Ganache, Cheesecake Icing, Lemon Curd, Chocolate Moose, German Chocolate… MMMmmmmMMm do I have you salivating yet? Here are a few other cool ideas for your wedding cake on your wedding day:F... |
I thought it was about time for a cake table – and by that, I mean rather than having one wedding cake a table of different cakes. This is what we did for our wedding, and the above cake table appealed because all of the cakes are tiny. We didn’t go for anything as adventurous as using an old desk, but it certainly would make for a striking feature. Image: via Ruffled ... |
