Hi we just help plan a really fun 3 year old birthday party. The theme was Little Mermaid. Our balloon artists ballooncelebrations.com designed this amazing mermaid for the pool! That same weekend I used balloons for my son’s prom and at an anniversary party for Heidi and Seal! We kept them very busy that weekend and Cindy the owner always is in a great mood. I’m a big fan of the whimsical, colorful and light hearted feeling that you always get when you enter a party with balloons. Have a nice weekend. Mindy...

... or mermaid meltdown? How do we feel about Carolina Herrera's new modified mermaid silhouettes? I don't quite know what to make of them. I could list what I think are their pros and cons, but I'm more interested in what you all think. Anyone try one of these on in person? CH's 2008 Bridal collection is so full of this shape (and she is such a bridal trend setter) I'd be surprised if other designers didn't follow suit. I'm wondering if this silhouette isn't the next big thing?...

Wouldn't this be just perfect for a beach wedding?? Can't you just see it, paired with a light and breezy white bridal sarong, with the tropical sun shining over your shoulders? Wouldn't that be just so tacky romantic???Okay. We're not seriously suggesting you wear this to your wedding. (Unless, of course, you really, really want to!!) But this is a fun accessory to a silly event. Maybe your bridesmaids will insist you wear this as part of your bachelorette party. (If you're a bridesmaid looking to humiliate lovingly tease the bride-to-be, one of your dearest friends, you can find more informa...

JLM CoutureThanks to a few designers like Vera Wang and Elizabeth Fillmore, mermaid silhouettes have been enjoying a rebirth within the last few years. From skirts that flare gently around the knees to pouf versions, they're all back to stay this time. Like the legendary creature herself, the mermaid is half and half: half sheath, half ball gown. Fitted long and snug to the knees then POW! Either a full flared skirt or tiers of ruffles complete the look, sometimes falling into (no pun intended) a fishtail train in back. Big glam look in the 1950s in heavier, highly polished satins. Bombshells...

Looks like mermaid wedding dresses are best friends again with the cool girls. Supermodel Coco Rocha recently donned a stunning Zac Posen mermaid gown at her wedding in France. And actress Hillary Duff looked like a fairy princess in her Vera Wang gown. All of a sudden I am in the mood to watch the movie Splash again. I use to obsess over Daryl Hannah’s sequined mermaid tail. Pictures via StyleFrizz P.S. Coco posted a short wedding video from American Cinema, on her blog where you can see the Zac Posen masterpiece in action. How beautiful is the French chateau where they got married, the ...
