I have fallen head over heels for the vintage appeal of mercury glass.  As a big fan of mixing metallics, I love the way that silver and gold traces blend together to create a beautiful finish on the pieces.  The overall look is très chic!  Image via the Paris Parfait blog I’m definitely going to be using this in my floral and decor. A timeless texture has hit the flower runway from votive candles to vases. Mercury glass is the new black! One of my favorite aspects of this silvery glass is it’s unique ability to morph with whatever color it is paired with. Below are 4 gorgeous photographs, each illustrating a different color story achieved simply through lighting and the reflective surface of mercury glass.  Rosy red. Light blue. Deep blue. Well look no further!  Mercury glass vases and votive holders are the perfect pop of glamour and shine to add even more beauty to the florals you’ve selected for your destination wedding. The silver color of these amazingly versatile pieces can lend itself to elegant, glitz-filled ballroom receptions or provide a perfectly curated antique feel for those of you opting for a more casual, outdoor affair.         One of my favorite current trends for weddings is the use of mercury glass and other metallics for decor.  Mercury glass was one of the first types of "art glass" created, made for display and looks rather than just for function.  Used tastefully on tables, it creates a vintage glam look and can mix well with almost any coordinating wedding colors.  Right now, you can find this look all over the place, making DIY tablescapes easy and affordable! Z Gallerie has great pieces on sale, including:  Luna Bazaar has a great selection of tabletop decor in mercury silver and gold...

Since my post on mercury glass, I’ve gotten a few requests for purchase sources.  It can be quite expensive, so I would recommend renting from your florist if you want the glass solely for your wedding decor.  If you’re looking to purchase, here are a few sources: Vintage Weave - I found some gorgeous tealights and drinking glass-size pieces here: (more…)...

  • I LOVE the look of mercury glass. It works so well in vintage, glam, and winter themed weddings. Mercury has such an old world charm to it – mercury vases look best when paired simply with red roses, peonies, ranunculas, or other large blooms. Simple white candlesticks on a mercury candelabra lends an elegant touch to the dinner setting and a simple white wedding cake set atop a mercury or brushed silver cake stand is just gorgeous. Take a look for yourself! Photo Credits: The Knot, Ruffled Blog, Pottery Barn ...
