• Say what you will about Sofia Coppola’s interpretation of Marie Antoinette’s story, it is undeniable that the fashion was noteworthy. Romantic, feminine, and sexy, Marie Antoinette was not afraid to forge her own fashion path, and as a style icon remains both compelling and enduring. Of course, what leaps to mind are huge skirts, tightly corseted bodices, exposed decolletage, and lush, opulent fabrics, all of which lend themselves to a very dramatic, extraordinary wedding dress inspiration! image credits, clockwise form upper left: Max Choul, Marie Antoinette, Vera Wang, Marie Antoinette,...

Katie of Minutes of Love sent us this beautiful Marie Antoinette themed session. It’s so perfectly styled and we were impressed to find out Katie and her mom did just about everything themselves! Katie found the dress at Salvation Army for $25 and made the gorgeous headpiece. Her mother made the buttercream and vanilla cupcakes as well as the pink flower ring. All the props were found from thrift stores around their hometown of Midland, Texas, and Katie’s friend Kara was the model! We are in awe of the amazing headpiece! Let them eat cupcakes! Click here for the recipe. So pretty! ...

  • Oh! Sophia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette is such eye candy! Every time I think about it, I wish I could be in on that shopping scene with all the cakes and shoes. I can even hear Bow Wow Wow’s “I Want Candy” playing in my head as I write this post! Marie Antoinette’s influence on fashion is one that has lasted even until today, and it is such a perfect source from which to draw for a wedding.  All that over-the-top femininity and sensational color and detail…everyone needs a little Marie Antoinette. Choosing only one gown for this collage was super hard (there are so many fabulous fr...

With Valentine’s Day approaching, there are many couples who will soon be engaged or may be planning a Valentine’s Day Wedding. Some of you brides may even be planning a bridal shower to take place a couple weeks before the date. With those thoughts in mind, this bridal shower theme is heavily inspired by Sophia Coppola’s picturesque movie– Marie Antoinette. To set the scene, you could host a destination event in Paris or bring Paris to your guests. Set the scene with a pastel color palette focusing on soft pinks and blues. You can also host the event at a Parisian style tea house, or ...

  • You know I’ve got a bit of a ‘thing’ for Marie Antoinette right? Well Marie Antoinette + pink hair couldn’t really be more perfect for Rock n Roll Bride if it tried could it? “This is what happened when 2 crazy photographers from different states in Australia put their heads together,” began photographer Vanessa. ”It all started with a wig Rhondda found on the internet (not the 1 we used actually) and after many chats and emails later we came up with Marie Antoinette as a bride. I wanted a bouquet out of the norm and didn’t really want traditional flowers in it. What better ...

  • Simone & Matt were married at the Historic Mission in San Diego.  Simone wore a Monique Lhuillier dress from and Christian Louboutin shoes.  After the ceremony all the guests headed over to the Prado restaurant at Balboa Park for an outdoor cocktail hour with hors d’ourves and live jazz.  Before entering the ballroom the couple entertained the guests with giant Bride and Groom pinatas which were attacked by kids and grownups alike.  There was no formal sit down dinner.  Instead guests were welcome to use the sushi bar and the mini kobe burger and fries bar.  Big band jazz and vo...

Who doesn’t love Sofia Coppola’s, Marie Antoinette? The retelling of France’s iconic but ill-fated queen, Marie Antoinette, was such a thrilling, colorful and amazing film that brings out creativity in us all. We love seeing interpretations of the film. They are all different, and all over the top. Just as our next Marie Antoinette Bridal Session is from Chelsea Nicole Photography. Instead of 18th century Versailles, they chose a dry lakebed in Las Vegas. A complete opposite location, but still visually stunning. Complete with gorgeous floral arrangements, lace, jewel and of...
