I've had macarons on my mind since I read the December 2009 issue of Food and Wine magazine. It contains recipes for raspberry, chocolate and passion fruit macarons that are apparently simple. I've never thought that making macarons could be simple but we'll see. I intend to make these within the next couple weeks and if they turn out, use them as favors for my upcoming birthday party. The recipe requires a candy thermometer, which I don't have yet.Click here to check out the Food and Wine recipes for simple macarons. Why do I care so much about macarons? I'm slightly obsessed with macarons right now. What am I saying...I am ALWAYS obsessed with macarons. This traditional french pastry is light, fruity, chewy, and one of my favorite confections. I'm working on a tv segment next week and am incorporating a fun diy project with macarons. There are lots of things you can do with macarons. I'll share the behind-the-scenes diy tips on what I will be making as we get closer to the segment airing. In the meantime, I wanted to share with you what is inspiring me today for this fun project.First, macarons from Laduree in Paris. Can you believe I... |
Raise your hand if you have heard of Tartelette. She’s an amazing food photographer, stylist, pastry artist, and person. And she’s french, too. Très cool! I met her for the first time last weekend when she came to Georgia to be a part of SugarComa and to also teach a class on making macarons. I follow her tweets and that’s how I found out she would be in town. I immediately contacted Tami who was setting the class up to get a spot and yay, I got one. These are some of Tartelette’s macarons. Spelled with one o and pronounced like macaroni… without the i sound. I’ve also seen peop... |
Who doesn't love macarons? I love cheesecake, brownies, ice cream, cookies & candy, but I wouldn't consider myself a HUGE dessert person (roll your eyes, it's true!). I never eat wedding cake or birthday cake, unless it is actually cheesecake or has ice cream. Macarons, on the other hand, are so light, I can't help but not consider them dessert. They're also often times colorful & too cute to eat, I end up trying to resist. Anyway, here's a new one of my favorite things: yummy macarons! {Hibiscus Macarons from Desert Candy, Snicker Macarons from Tarte... |
I still have this strange fascination with French Macarons. I don’t know if it’s the soft pastel colors or the light cookie that is sweetly filled. Probably both. These little treats made with almond flour and traditionally filled with buttercrream or jam are always a crowd-pleaser. At Jay’s we like to fill them with chocolate. As you bite into the light puff of cookie, the taste of chocolate lingers on your tongue. Simply divine. Our French Macarons can be made in any color to match your celebration. A sweet surprise treat for your guests. ... |
I have seen so many yummy macarons recently on dessert tables and thought I’d post a little macaron goodness on the blog for this Tuesday. Like this picture from Shauna Younge Dessert Tables as pictured on Landlocked Bride. And this cake as found on Shauna Younge Dessert Tables blog. Made by Sweet Merveilles, a Singapore based company run by two very creative women. But now to feature macaron pops from one of my favorite baking blogs Bakerella. Hers are filled with chocolate ganache, and anything made with chocolate ganache is ok in my book. Check out instructions on how to make the... |
Ah yes, the macaron. These pretty little French pastries have definitely grown in popularity this year. They are the perfect size for wedding favors and since they’re so colorful (each flavor having it’s own distinct hue), they’re the perfect addition to the ever popular dessert bar. If you live in Atlanta, there’s a great little French bakery in Marietta where you can get them, or you can try here. You can also order macarons online from Paulette or Mad Mac. If you’re brave enough to try making them yourself, check out this adorable book or find a recipe on Aran’s beautiful b... |
This is the most painful post I’ve ever had to write. And no, it’s certainly because I don’t like the subject; rather, I like it just a little too much, and putting together the above image was flat out torture. One word for you: macarons. These gorgeous French pastries are all the rage right now, and are appearing on dessert tables left and right. Not that I blame any of these brides or wedding planners – these little cookies are addictive and add a lot of color to a spread. Want to buy them online? Good thing I’ve decided to round up some sources for you! Little Oven Luxe Sweets M... |
You may be wondering if we have a typo in the title ... You may also be wondering what a macaron is ... {LITTLE BITES OF HEAVEN} :) No, my friends, this is no typo ...
