Continuing with Merci New York's series of featuring some of the city's hottest hotels to stay, sleep and play, {and of course, house your out-of-town wedding guests}, it only made sense to showcase one of the newest, hippest and dare we say, sexiest, hotels in Manhattan: the ever-chic Standard Hotel. Take a peek... The Standard is hotelier Andre Balazs's latest, and like many of his past ventures, it comes packed with a certain electricity and buzz that oozes downtown cool. Perched twenty stories above the High Line, the city's newest old park {recreated from the former elevated subway line...

I truly adore the chic decor and uptown panache of The Surrey. I had the pleasure of previewing the newly renovated hotel during a Net-a-Porter press event last month, and reminisced about its dove gray decor after running a post on Monique Lhuillier's home similarly-hued home earlier this week... Simply stated, the hotel is gorgeous. If you're hosting an uptown wedding, it's well worth considering this spot for your out-of-town guests. Take a look...Sitting along a quiet Upper East Side block, the Surrey looks more like an inviting apartment building than a hotel... Many of the 190 guest room...

Recently, I was fortunate to share a wonderful lunch and tour of the Crosby Street Hotel with an intimate group of wedding professionals. Needless to say, the company was wonderful, and the venue was so striking, I couldn't wait to share these images with you.The "Spring" room is one of three private event spaces at the hotel {and my favorite for chic rehearsal dinners}. The space is so perfectly designed, only a few simple flowers and candles are needed to personalize an event.A "Crosby Suite." High ceilings and full length windows with spectacular views of downtown New York make these high l...

As you might have noticed, I've been in a rather luxe mood here at Merci New York. But I've devised a plan. Rather than spend my way down Fifth Avenue {and risk some serious Am-Ex interrogation with the hubs}, I've decided to share all my posh little finds with you. Genius, no?So, for the New York bride who didn't bat an eyelash at yesterday's stunning {$3,500} Alexander McQueen sculpted wedges, today we bring you... {le sigh}... The St. Regis New York's freshly unveiled Tiffany Suite.Pretty fabulous, no? The glistening 1,700 square foot suite on the 14th floor of the legendary St. Regis N...

  • Here are some shots from a 2008 trip into New York City for a workshop. The images were taken with a plastic toy camera, the Lomo fisheye. Unfortunately even though I rally against people using CVS photo counters for prints I got the film developed there, to unhappy color results. I really like the low-quality look of these distorted images shot through plastic. Sometimes it’s a nice change!...

  • I recently found this post on Style Me Pretty about a week ago and wanted to share.  I’m not one for tradition or going over board on design elements, so I immediately fell in love with the classic simplicity of the decor at this wedding.  Plus, the fact that they used virtually all white and candlelight just really makes the loft space come alive.  Enjoy! It’s good to note that most of the design elements used by the bride and groom can be easily recreated yourself (woot!).  The table numbers can be printed at home and placed on cardstock.  For the centerpieces, you would just need ...
