• Jennifer & Matthew had a gorgeous traditional Korean wedding, which took place at Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden. Jennifer’s beautiful dressis a traditional Korean dress called a hanbok, but with a modern twist.  It was designed by Kim Mehee, who designed Sandra Oh’s dress for the SAG awards…. The couple went DIY’ed all the flowers! I love their peacock boutonnieres  the most but I am also pretty crazy about her homemade bouquet, she used flake flowers to keep it looking perfect throughout the day. ...

  • This Korean couple donned some traditional dress for their very untraditional, vintage photo shoot. How bloody fantastic! ps If you haven’t already (or even if you have) then you most definitely have to enter my new amazing contest - and remember, if you don’t add the photographs (or link to the photographs) in your comment your entry will not be valid (sorry to sound like a headmistress but for some reason, I have had loads of entries sans photographs!) I wrote this article for an online Korean magazine and got lots of good feedback about the topic. I thought that the Big Fat Cake community would also be interested. I’m including only a trailer so you’ll have to go to KonnectMagazine to read the rest. Can you relate to these weird nuances from your culture? Share with us! The article trailer begins here: Being part of many weddings, I’ve seen the unique differences among traditions, but some through funny cultural quirks. If you’re Korean but you hire a non-Korean wedding planner or coordinator, there are several things you ma...

Michelle and Charles were married this past November at Westwood Country Club — and I just love their Korean Wedding Ceremony! Here is a huge dose of pretty to get your week started! Michelle tells us… “Initially we had a very modern concept for the wedding, but then we went with the Westwood Country Club which has a very classic feel to it, so we actually ended up going a bit more classical but giving it a little touch of color. I love pink, so we went with pink and felt gray was a nice match. The room has very high ceilings so we wanted flower arrangements that would be elegant a...

There’s a reason why classic palettes like black and white transcend personal style and evoke a universal feeling of love, romance and elegance.  Typically, when I think of Asian weddings, my mind wonders towards symbolic colors like red and yellow.  Today’s inspiration board proves that timeless style transcends culture, no matter what. {Source: Full credits via  Wedding Nouveau} Get Inspired, Fri B....

  • This weekend we drove out to NYC for our friends’ wedding. As a guest I decided to limit myself to 50 frames, and ended up choosing 30. As part of a traditional Korean wedding, the bride and groom change into traditional Korean costumes (Hanbok) and do a bowing ceremony (Pyebaek) to honor their parents and special relatives. The bride serves them tea, and the parents present their gifts. My favorite part is when the parents throw figs (girls) and chestnuts (boys), and however many the couple may catch in her dress or a scarf represent how many children the couple will have. Please ...

Monopoly Korean 1st Birthday Party at the London West Hollywood Last spring I was fortunate enough to design my first Korean 1st birthday party. In the Korean culture, the 1st birthday is a highly celebrated special time in their babies life that symbolizing great health, luck and also to help forecast their life to come. When Jina Parks of Ultimately Plush  asked me to create this creative and luxurious bash at the London West Holllywood I knew I’d be in for a treat!
