Choosing our venue was really a difficult decision for me. Choosing the city where we would get married was even harder. I am from Louisiana and lived most of my life there, but my parents live in Dallas now. My honey and I were both living in Columbia, South Carolina and he was originally from Columbia and his parents still live here. I didn’t want to have the wedding in Columbia because I wanted to keep the wedding to 150 guests and his family would not have been able to keep their numbers down if we’d had it in Columbia. I was really clear about not wanting to meet anyone for the first... |
Patience, Young Jedi. I like to think of finding a venue as your first Wedding Stress Test. It determines what type of wedding you’re going to have, and vice-versa, the length of your guest list, and it might be a big chunk out of your budget. You just want to get it done, so you can move onto the fun parts – the pretty, pretty dress. And the cake tasting. But first you gotta find a place to have this thing. Tip #1: Give yourself some time. I tell – okay, warn – my couples that it will take 4-6 weeks, which seems like forever from where you are right now, with the new-car smell still w... |
The Santa Barbara Historical Museum By Zohe Felici, Felici Events Photos by Michael + Anna Costa Wedding Photographers This cultural landmark located in the heart of Santa Barbara’s historic district elicits the romance of early Spanish California. The Santa Barbara Historical Museum’s grounds are perfect for large receptions and ceremonies or special occasions. The interconnected courtyards are distinguished by native and exotic landscaping accented with splashing fountains. The property also offers the Casa Corvarubias, built in 1817, it is the last provincial seat of the Mexica... |
The Granada Theater By Zohe Felici, Felici Events The Granada Theater, built in 1924 and remarkably restored in 2008, is 13,000 sq. feet of rich velvet floors and cushioned chairs. It features the sparkling, original chandelier located in the main lobby underneath a charming ceiling painted with small decorative flowers and diamonds. The spectacular theater also features an elaborately crafted metal ceiling ornament that hangs in the middle of a stunning painted ceiling. This immaculate ceiling only highlights the luxuriousness of the theater with its plush seats and gold covered walls. Th... |
My perfect spot to exchange vows? Outside, under a tree...With benches, a fabulous mirror and lanterns hanging overhead, yes please! Of course, I would need some flowers and a couple of other details, but in terms of location - perfection! Where is your perfect spot to exchange vows?~ Ciao...image via charleston weddings magazine... |
We have been incredibly lucky to get into some unique and surprising Bosotn locations for the JUXTAPOSITION project! Just in the past week we got to shoot in fancy restaurant L’Espalier near Newbury Street, Canobie Lake Park… and the rumors are true… we were even invited inside Fenway Park right before a game! Those photos won’t be available until after I have processed and posted images from my past two weddings (hi Mike and Sofia, Beth and Dave!) but let’s just say it’s going to be incredible. Meanwhile, today I am preparing for a shoot with Gwen in the Alewife area of Cambridg... |
After Brian and I got engaged, we started talking about where and when we wanted to get married. I should note here that I moved around a lot growing up and thus don’t have a “hometown” where I would want to get married. We knew the wedding had to be in the fall or winter to avoid Brian’s season, so we started thinking of places that would be nice that time of year. We initially talked about having the wedding in San Diego at Torrey Pines (my parents live in San Diego) - it’s beautiful there and would have been a fun destination for our guests to visit. The one main drawback is that ... |
With our vision and inspiration board in place, we were ready to start planning. The first step was choosing a wedding date. Because we wanted to keep costs as low as possible, we decided to get married on a Sunday and also keep our wedding to 75 guests or less. We were both very clear that we wanted immediate family and friends only. Because 80% of our guests would be coming from out of town we did not want to make our guests request more time off of work than absolutely necessary. As a result, we decided that we would either have a Memorial Day or Labor Day Sunday wedding since most people g... |
Location is so much a part of a perfect wedding! Here are two venues that I would suggest in the Philadelphia area. The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts is my favorite venue to work. There are two buildings - one an Art Deco building with a marble staircase and red walls and the other, pictured here, a modern art gallery with hardwood floors and an edgy feel. The staff is marvelous and the food delicious, provided by Duffy’s Catering. (more…)... |
