Aaaaah, Hawaii. Where to begin? It seems kind of cliche to say I had an awesome trip because, hello! it's Hawaii and if you don't have an awesome time in Hawaii your heart is made of stone. Or you have the swine flu.Erin and Shawn's wedding was fabulous. And I mean F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S! I can't wait to get the pictures from our wonderful photographer Brooke Fitts of Brookelyn Photography so I can properly blog about it, but for now I'm going to say that the entire experience of their wedding was great: their family & friends, the beautiful Sheraton Keouhou Bay Resort & Spa, the vendors, an...

  • Hawaii awaits. Tomorrow we will be there. We’ll be keeping a website. Follow our adventures at refreshrenewexplore.com....

  • A few weeks ago I had the coincidental honor of meeting up with Chicago-based photographer Monica and her husband Chris to third-shoot her cousin Patty’s Oahu wedding. Patty and Al are marine biologists (fact check?!) currently doing research in Oahu, and it was fun to see what some temporary locals did with the wedding. Patty’s a detail person, so everything seemed to be just so. The standout item for me was the dinner, which was prepared (the main dish speared earlier that day!) by the caterer who was this big friendly, down-to-earth guy who seems like he could teach you a lot about li...

  • Husband and wife team James & Bev just sent me these stunning Kikaua Point Beach wedding from May this year. I actually spotted some of these images on one of my many hunts for damn cool weddings and in fact begged them to send me the images of Amanda & Rob’s big day. Me? play it cool?…certainly not! The couple had a Don Julio Tequila toast right after they said ‘I do’ (now I don’t really know what this is, but I can only imagine it involved Tequila shots after the vows!) and Amanda wore are beautiful traditional Hawaiian dress called a mu’umu’u as her wedding gown and ...

No Link Love this week (gosh what horrendous number of unread posts am I going to arrive home to on my reader?)..... but some pretty finds all the same. Hopefully by the time you're reading this I will have managed to get myself decked out in some cute outfits like this. Casual, chic, cute..... can't go wrong! One thing about holidays - I have time to wander through the shops at my leisure - something I don't often do these days, so I save it all for trips to the US - where lets face it, there is far more choice. Gotta say though I'm kinda gutted that there isn't an Anthropologie in Hawaii!! H...

Did you watch LOST on Sunday?! I'm sorry to say that I've devoted way too many hours of my life to that labyrinth of a show, but now that it's over I'm feeling nostalgic for the place we've come to know as "The Island." In fact, the show was filmed entirely in Hawaii, and, really, what better place could they have picked as a location? Equal parts adventure, mystery, romance, and relaxation, Hawaii could easily be the site of your honeymoon or destination wedding. But don't take my word for it: A few nights ago, I had the chance to ask Chef Masaharu Morimoto (of Iron Chef fame) to tell me the ...

  • Heather & Brent have an August wedding planned on the beautiful island of Maui. Heather is a coworker of mine so we've had a couple "working lunches" to sort out the look and feel of their invitations. She had done some great research and found a green paper with a leaf pattern that was just perfect for the occasion. So with that as our inspiration, 2 accent colors of papaya and stardream opal were chosen. While only close family will be attending the actual ceremony, Heather & Brent have a post-wedding reception in the works to celebrate with the rest of their friends and family. Heat...

Aloha! E is a HUGE fan of Hawaii! She’s been several times, and has big love for the islands. Our library was seriously lacking in great Hawaiian vendors, so we asked Evonne from Events by Evonne to review a few fabulous vendors. What better person to review than Evonne, who is an event planner and a Hawaiian bride! We chose 3 vendors that she personally used for her wedding and asked her to review. Word of mouth is the best advertisement! A. YVONNE EVENT FLORAL & DECOR, Floral Yvonne is one of the best floral designers on the islands. I hired her for my own wedding because I fell ...
