At a recent wedding I attended in the Grand Rapids area I was introduced to something I had never seen before at the reception. As we entered the reception area two pianos were set up facing each other. There was no DJ or even a band, but  instead the bride and groom opted for dueling pianos! At first I was a little skeptical, thinking to myself  ‘piano music all night? I don’t know…’, but after I listened for a while and realized how amazing the pianists were I completely changed my mind. They played some great classic songs with some fast and some slow. On top of their impressive ...

The color red and I have a funny relationship. I avoid wearing it and using it in my personal decor, and I especially dislike red flowers, but then I see it in places where no other color would do, and it surprises and charms me. Red lipstick on a bride (the perfect accessory!), red letters on a bistro chair, a shockingly red door or piano. But it's a dramatic color, so use it wisely - perhaps against a crisp white backdrop as I've done here. Though I love the bride's red lipstick, I've imagined her carrying a bouquet of white flowers and some foliage. Red ranunculus have made their way into t...

  • We photographed a wedding near Hibbing MN last summer and were shocked (in a good way) at the caliber of the entertainment. David and Ted of Deuces Wild! nearly took down the bride and groom’s lakeside tent with their dueling piano performance. They had guests of every age, gender and occupation dancing in a congo line and singing at the top of their lungs. It was late and it was cold but no one wanted to leave. All we could do was watch and laugh in awe. Their piano, vocal and improvisation skills were on target and better than any Vegas show we’ve seen....

  • "You were a dream to work with{...}It is so refreshing to work with an event planner who is so organized and such a nice person too!"-Jeff Coleron of Noteworthy ProductionsIf you're lucky enough to have been to a dueling piano bar, then you know how great a dueling piano show is. For those of you who are unfamiliar, it's a setup of two pianos facing each other (although I learned that Jeff and Rhiannon use keyboards built into setups that look like pianos) and two singers/pianists who play at each one. During the show they take requests (sometimes for money, depending on the kind of event) and...
