I am in a truly hedonistic mood today. I just want pleasure, pleasure, pleasure. Not that kind of pleasure, you perve. Cakey pleasure. On rainy, yucky days like this one, nothing beats a fantastic piece of cake. Of course, there is nothing wrong with a fantastic piece of cake when it’s sunny, either. Weddings need (yes, need) fantastic cake. Unless you’re not having a cake, which is alright by me. But if you’re going to have a cake, why not have an amazing, gorgeous, deliciously decadent cake that will leave guests talking for months? The service of the cake is part of the latter hal... |
When putting together a wedding reception timeline — i.e., a simple schedule that lets the major players in the wedding and the emcee know when the first dance will go down and the cake will be cut — many brides- and grooms-to-be neglect one important detail. Namely, for all the time spent thinking about when they’ll get to the reception, they never consider when they’ll leave the reception. Whoops! Look at enough wedding photos, and you’ll see that the big exit makes for some great snapshots of the newlyweds. That is, of course, if the newlyweds take steps to plan that big exit ahe... |
…We now return for the thrilling conclusion of “How to find a wedding venue in 7 months!” If I were to give you all the details on every place we researched, contacted, obtained proposals from, and visited, this blog would go on forever and the only remaining readers would be zombies. So, we’ll just cut to the chase, shall we? For a long while, I had ruled out restaurants because of our desire to marry outdoors. But desperate times called for desperate measures and we figured that we could always do an outdoor ceremony with an indoor reception if we found the right place. So, I hit up ... |

(From left to right) models in creations by Falguni-Shane Peacock, Vikram Phadnis and Neeta Lulla While the designer showcase at last year’s India Bridal Week was not-so-impressive we’re looking forward to a much better showcas... |

Hi y'all! Have you exploded from Bridal Market goodness yet? It's Marissa again, back for our final installment! After getting all dolled up, we headed to the Martha Stewart Bridal Market event. The party was held in the textile showroom of their corporate offices. There were manicure stations, gelato carts and glitter everywhere! Lara and I felt like kids in a candy store with so many fun surprises and wonderful people! Below left to right: Lara with Anthony Luscia... |
Forget sneaking out quietly- most brides look for a big bang exit from their wedding reception to finish off the night and leave guests with a spectacular grand finale. Most of our brides choose sparklers, which guests hold while the bride and groom run through on the way to their getaway car. Sparklers make for fabulous photo ops, and while I see them over and over, I can't help but to recommend them for brides looking for a special way to end the evening.
