Flowers are one, if not two things 1) expensive and/or 2) a DIY challenge…at least in my humble opinion.  And honestly, there aren’t a whole lot of bright floral colors happening in the Pacific NW in January anyhow. This is why we have opted for flower minimalism, especially when decorating our 18 or so tables!  My inspiration is this: {Photo via Wedding Bee Boards} I plan to have a single cylindrical vase on each table; which you can purchase in bulk from The Dollar Tree for, yes, $1 each!!!. I was thinking of renting vases or purchasing them for anywhere between $7-$10 each, but f...

When I was trying to figure out my centerpieces, my florist gave me a low cost option. But I wasn’t too thrilled about it. I knew it would be inexpensive (about $130 for 20 tables TOTAL) but it would just be a low bowl with floating candles and 2 gerber daisies floating in the water. So I researched online for ideas and came up with something I am pretty excited about. I am going to create 4 paper flowers (1 green, 1 pink, and 2 white) and put them in tall vases with water beads. Are your centerpieces a floral alternative? Personal Photo Personal Photo...

Our beautiful centerpieces were yellow and white roses, by Anthony Brownie. The tables were also adorned with old books that belonged to my late grandfather. Tables were covered with white lace overlays and dishes inscribed with The Harvard Club logo....

Danielle wants sunflowers at her wedding. Okay. I can do that. Six or nine in a hand-tied sunflower bouquet. Check. Sunflowers, after all, are the divas of the flower community. They don’t need attention-grabbing little daisies or pesky baby’s breath to make a grand entrance. But making ten sunflower centerpieces? Better check with the professionals.I drive downtown to the large wholesale florist. When I tell the clerk that I need a price for “ten sunflower centerpieces” she directs me to a table where I will find EVERYTHING I need. What I find is a dozen or so flyers in pastel colors ...

  • While some people are comfortable dropping a lot of cash on elaborate centerpieces for a wedding, that type of spending is often not feasible for smaller parties or everyday living. These cylindrical inline vases ($4.95 from cb2) are the perfect solution for dressing up your table on a dime. You can use them as bud vases, as shown, or you can angle the stems and fit a few more flowers in each individual opening. For added drama, arrange three of them side by side so that you have a total of nine orbs forming a square.I picked up a similar inline vase last year on a whim, and it has turned out...

One of my favorite trends right now is that brides are utilizing different styles of centerpieces on guest tables at the reception. There’s really no better way to break up the monotony of a large room than to express creativity with all different types of centerpieces that are still coordinated with the overall theme. This idea can look especially fabulous in larger weddings that have over 15 guest tables where the same basic centerpiece — no matter how grand or beautiful — can get a little repetitive and become a mere afterthought. But by using unique decor on each table, guests will b...

When it comes to wedding flowers, simple is in. Using a single flower in a vase or  grouping similar flowers casually together is the latest look in rustic chic wedding decor. These wedding flowers are all in the same color spectrum (variations of white and purple, respectively) and in similar vases, but only one type of flower per vase. It’s a look that makes an impact without having to be a grand floral arrangement. Check out these gorgeous David Austen roses! I love the table number flag with this gorgeous bloom! These groupings are all different in that their flowers are different, ...

  • I found myself stressing out way too much over our centerpieces. In the grand scheme of our wedding, they aren’t my top priority. So the fact that I was even stressing out about them was stressing me out. Orchid FMIL offered to give us $300 to put toward the centerpieces. Since that was my entire decorations budget, I knew I’d be way under. I had pretty much made up my mind that I was doing some seashells in a vase with some candles. But, I felt like I needed something more. I just wasn’t sure what. I also wasn’t 100 percent sold on the candle idea.  Considering my reception wi...

People always ask me how I choose the weddings and ideas that I write about on Style Me Pretty. The truth is, it happens way more organically than many people realize. I usually start thinking about the next day’s posts at night, though I don’t solidify anything until the morning that it goes live. And oftentimes, I don’t have anything at all planned for the day when I wake up in the morning. Which was exactly the case today. I am still playing catch-up from being away and real weddings are starting to pile up in my inbox. So many gorgeous real weddings, so many incredible ideas. As I wa...
