Last month we also visited the famed Grand Del Mar Resort in San Diego, CA. This property is extremely unique in that it has it's very own chapel (marble, removable pews and all), in addition to a ceremony lawn for 500 and gazebo, five star restaurants, some of the nicest hotel rooms I've ever seen (amazing bathrooms - that's how I judge!), and all that a traditional resort has to offer - spa, golf, etc. I've actually stayed at this property a few times before but this time was different - the catering staff threw us event peeps three days of lavish parties, meals, and hos... |
I love celebrations that become family affairs. When Shorleen and Joasa married, the guest list exceeded 300. There are very few locations in the South Bay that can accommodate a sizable gathering. We were very excited when they chose The Carson Center. Partly because Joasa’s father, Pastor Daniel Hunkin , is a favorite at The Carson Center. Not only was he the father of the groom, he also officiated the ceremony. Probably my favorite part of the celebration. I love a personal message when two people in love make all of those promises to each other. Guests dined and danced the night aw... |

This post was inspired by a recent wedding I did where there were several couples and individuals who had more than average ballroom dance experience. You might be surprised that in my 16 years of doing this, I say it is rather rare to have couples “showing off” what they’ve learned in private lessons. I guess it is not totally fair to describe it that way… for many, it is the perfect opportunity for which they have been practicing… a nice dance floor, professional sound system, formal affair… the only thing missing is ‘The Stars’! ;-) As rare and infrequent as it is,... |
Contrary to popular belief (aka public opinion), not every wedding has to be a sit-down dinner with dancing. Many of today’s brides and grooms are choosing a destination wedding abroad followed by a celebratory party upon their return home. But rather than a formal dinner as their wedding reception, we’re seeing more and more couples changes things up with a lounge-style cocktail party format. For instance, for one such couple, we turned the traditional Grand Ballroom at the prestigious Rittenhouse Hotel into a contemporary lounge setting. A lounge that was jammed not with 72̸... |
