Last summer I stopped by our local market every Wednesday to pick up fresh flowers, and this year has been so busy, I've only managed to stop by twice, and came home not with flowers, but strawberries! There's something so cheerful and refined about having pretty arrangements all around the house, not to mention the bursts of colour they bring. I love bunches of all white flowers the look is always chic and timeless. I particularly love the lace like quality of these Queen Anne flowers. And baby’s breathe in mass, always looks so feminine and soft to me. The delicate bell shaped blooms of Lily of the Valley are so ladylike and pretty. • I am loving the new trend of decorating a cake with artfully placed fresh flowers. I think it is so fresh and pretty, especially for an outdoor bride. It can be a budget solution, also. But there is one MAJOR concern if this is something you want to do. The flowers used to decorate the cake must be edible. This does not mean that your guests will be chomping down the foliage like a horde of ravenous bunnies, but poison + food just DO NOT go together. Luckily, there are a diverse number of flowers that are edible. These are all flowers you can use, and they are just a start! A little bit of ...

  • If you follow me on Twitter, you might have caught that I recently planted 150 bulbs in our yard including tulips, crocus, and daffodils. I love fresh flowers, and planting bulbs is an easy, relatively inexpensive way to enjoy my favorite, tulips, for a few weeks come warmer weather in May. Naturally, I need to wait until spring to enjoy them, so in the meantime, I planted paperwhites inside to tide me over.Forcing flowers indoors has been a new thing for me in the past few years. For the last three years, I have planted an amaryllis, but this year I switched to paperwhites for two reasons. Th...
