Reception venue: I love this beautiful inspiration board posted on Sparkliatti yesterday--especially the idea of holding a small wedding in a clearing in the forest (see the bridesmaids walking between the trees in the center?). It could be so magical with lanterns and colored fabric hanging from the branches. It would also be fun not to tell the guests exactly where the reception is located, but to lead them from the ceremony in one part of the forest to the dinner tables/dancing set out in another part. You could completely transport them in a Midsummer Nights Dream-inspired event.... |
Sarah & Kevin’s North Carolina wedding has got to be one of the most detail-perfect enchanted woodland wonderlands I’ve ever seen, with branches even weaving and wondering throughout the rooms the couple got ready in. This stunning venue is Garden Retreat in Poplar. At this outset this day had an air of magic about it. From the ever so slightly scary giant wooden insects, to the awesome ‘picture on the wall’ photo booth, to the amazingly detailed centrepieces - there is nothing about this wedding that doesn’t exude enchantment. The magic doesn’t stop there though - the ... |
I love this handmade felt Forest Garland from by London-based AAliciaAccessories. Each flower petal is hand-sewn and oh so cute!... |
...Gateau that is, is what I am craving today! Just have a look-see, and I am sure you will be too... Ummm, tell me this doesn't look delicious? And seriously, could it be anymore fabulous? The chocolate trees are just amazing and a detail that I love. And with ingredients of black cocoa and chocolate ganache how could it not taste yummy? I can see why it received 173 comments, as the presentation alone is perfection! Oh how I would LOVE to see this cake at a wedding! And if you feel inclined to make this yourself, just click here for the recipe. P.S. - I have a feelin... |

Spring is very much the time for engagement sessions and there have been some wonderful ones floating around the blogging world lately. I thought that I would devote {the rest of} this week on tying the knot to lovely little engagement sessions. I can’t help but to start with this one, by Jennifer Skog. You all know how I feel about engagement and/or wedding pictures that take place in a field, right? Well this particular engagement shoot takes place in a field within a pseudo forest and it makes my heart pitter patter. Just have a looksie, you’ll see why. Things I love about this engagem... |
I have been so charmed by the idea of a forest (or forest themed) wedding lately. I think that having lived in Washington and Oregon for the past 5 years, the natural beauty of these places has finally rubbed off on me. There's just something so enchanting and hauntingly beautiful about a forest wedding! Love the wood invitations, and the orange, yellow, brown and green color scheme. For two of my favorite 'forest' weddings, please see Exhibit A: Treehouse wedding on 100 Layer Cake and Exhibit B: Camp themed wedding in Forks, WA on Once Wed. Enjoy! Happy Friday everyone! Before you take yourselves off for the weekend, I have such a sweet e-session from photographer Adri Meyer of Karin and Herman (who were engaged just after the soccer World Cup started in South Africa). Sometimes, it’s great to have a styled shoot full of props and fun and details. But sometimes, there’s just nothing better than a girl and a boy in a forest with beautiful, beautiful light. These pics remind me a little of Twilight – yes, I know, you’ve heard enough about Twilight in the last week, but don’t these lovely shots remind you of B... |
So much excitement today! But don’t worry, it doesn’t mean I would leave you hanging with an inspiration board for this week, and today’s is my favourite kind – a reader request! Maruzaan and her fiance are planning their Cape wedding at the moment, and found their forest venue (Forest 44) through the blog. They’ve decided on a dark purple and lime colour scheme, with a subtle forest theme to match their venue, and I was only happy to oblige with a few ideas. In fact, I found so many lovely forest ideas that it was hard to limit myself! This can really be an issue... |
Christine of CEVD designed incredible invitations to fit the vision- a save-the-date actually printed on a feather!! These would be sent in sweet little glass tubes as a wonderful surprise for guests. The invitation combined stitched nubby fabric, a piece of wood and a mailing box full of moss and woodsy bits. For the place settings, I turned to my dear friend Jason Murakawa of Small Masterpiece. Jason’s collection is like something out of a museum- each piece as unique and exquisite as the next. Antique Haviland Limoges china, beautiful pressed flint glass goblets, and carved horn and ... |
