Filed under: Food & Drink Cheryl Hoffman When selecting your dinner menu, don't concern yourself with the specific needs of every guest. Everyone knows what foods they are allergic to and will ask the waiter about the ingredients in any dishes they are concerned about. No one will eat something they think will make them sick. To my mind food, drink and music are the three most important structural aspects of a party; the framework for the more ethereal connections between people and their ideas and emotions. This week we will look at food. I think food is particularly important at family celebrations. Feasting at family events is a tradition that crosses cultures and has very deep roots in our collective cultural history. For myself and Rachel preparing food with our families is very much a part of our culinary heritage and it was important for us and our families to be closely involved in the selection and prepara... |
I've decided that there are not nearly enough photographs of the food/meals served at weddings! I am a firm believer that your wedding inspiration extends past the tablescape and place setting and that a couple's food choice is also a very important (my stomach is correcting me and asking me to say most important) part of the design. Food choices are a reflection of the couple's taste and personalities, the season, the setting, and play a major role in setting the tone for the event. Is it a casual BBQ style? A fun cocktail/station event? A formal sit down with pa... |
It’s been a busy couple of weeks for myself and Paradise Dude. Last weekend he went to watch the British Grand Prix, leaving me to fend for myself, and then this week I had my graduation ceremony for the degree that I finished in January (long wait I know). This meant that families were up, driving us mad with endless questions about the wedding, which I’m sure that we’ve answered before or can’t answer yet, like who’s staying in which rooms in the hotel. “Well dad…” my answer started, “how can I know that if I haven’t had all the RSVP’s back yet?” Sensible answer I t... |
Acclaim Food is another wedding caterer we would like to recommend to all our lovely readers. To start it off, we would like to share with you a helpful wedding tip on How to Choose a Wedding Caterer which was kindly given to us by Scott Milne of Acclaim Food. “There is so much to consider when choosing your caterer; budget, style of food, do they charge corkage? Once you have agreed the style and cost of catering, make sure you get at least 2 or 3 proposals that appeal to your theme and budget and go with the one that you have most rapport and confidence with. It’s important that your ca... |
When planning your event, it’s always a good idea to sit down with your beau and see what’s really important to the both of you. Is it flowers? Location? Dress? Food? Basically, what will be a major focus in your budget? If you are both foodies, that can be a really fun and enjoyable focus for both you and your guests to enjoy. Photos by Robert Evans Studios While food can, and does, get pricey fast, if it is a priority then there are many ways you can pull it off. First see if there is a type of food you’d like to focus on, and any major religious or dietary restrictions you need... |
