I've had quite a few conversations lately about the flower situation - would we have done our own again, or would we have hired any one of the local florists?  OneLovePhotoWell.  I loved how our flowers turned out - and I would not have changed a thing about them.  However...it was a real LABOR of love from the women in our families who committed to helping us with it.  I don't think I'll ever know the true story of the set up of those flowers (was it stressful?  a headache?  fun?) ....remember at the last minute Tommy and I didn't help set up the reception area.....

Tomorrow, I am going to be meeting with two florists. Each of them asked for me to bring in pictures of what I want the floral arrangements for my wedding to look like. Problem. I have no idea. I mean, I have THOUGHT about it...but I am not even close to deciding. So. here are my thoughts:My bouquet: I'm leaning towards an white, not too leafy, hand tied with ribbon, and very simple bouquet. It adds up…very quickly. Our latest project is finding a florist. Christina and I are trying to nail our big items down before my trip to the east coast December 15-22 so I can meet with as many vendors as possible. So we have yet to settle on a florist and a baker. So we’ve been doing some online searches and various Google searches to find a nearby and affordable florist- key word affordable. I have spoken to 3 separate women so far. The problem with me being the voice of our couple is my lack of fashion sense- I can pick out a cute tie but chances are it won’t match my socks. And some...

Today, Bride Blogger Kimberly tells us about how she found a florist that fit her style and comfort level… Flowers are one of those things I have never been able to live without.  I go to the store, I pick up fresh flowers.  When I would have a date with a new guy – bringing flowers = bonus points for trying to make a good impression.  So I am surprised at my lack of enthusiasm with incorporating flowers into my wedding day. Here’s how I answered Aimee when we discussed flowers and what I wanted, “I love flowers, but they die – quickly! I really feel like they are a waste of my bu...

  • I have to say that I didn’t know much about flowers or floral design before we got engaged.  Lotus Dude and I planned to meet with florists while we were in Ohio for Christmas.  So of course I did some research before the meetings.  And I kept hearing that fresh flowers are amazingly expensive.  Especially because the flowers I tend to like seem to be the more expensive ones like orchids and calla lilies.  I had already decided that I didn’t need any bouquets for myself or the bride’s maids as they are not traditional to Hindu ceremonies.  But I still wanted ceremony decorations,...

{Photo} Dear Floristzilla, a bride usually has some very specific ideas for her flowers, or her colors, or her look. And she really puts a lot of stock in you to help her make her vision come true. You can quickly go from being her best friend to her floristzilla... Floristzilla, if a bride shows you a picture of a bouquet and says she wants it to look exactly like that, make sure that the bride in the picture isn't a size 2 and this your client is a size 14, that will make a difference in the size of the bouquet. And you don't want her to ultimately be disappointed. Floristzilla, please...

So today Mathew’s mom and I went to speak to some florists in town. I normally would’ve loved to take my own mother, but her being back home in Corpus kind of puts a crimp in that. I probably should be more involved in planning ahead with vendors to see when I can meet them, and then ask my mom to come up, but I feel as though it’d be a lot of trouble for her (and A LOT of gas too). In any case, Mathew’s mom is by no means a replacement, but she helped me out a lot today since Mathew had to work. We went to 2 florists today (we’ll call them florist A & B). Florist A was supposed...
