To Save the Date, or to Not Save the Date that is the question! As I was designing these new colorful save the date cards I thought, many times when I speak with a new bride-to-be on the phone they ask this question. Let me start by saying save the date cards are used to tell your guests to “Save the Date” for your wedding day or weekend. Pretty simple, right!? Personally, I say just send out your wedding invitations early if you need a response earlier than the norm (1 month before wedding in the USA). Then YOU save money. Sometimes guests need an entire year to plan for travel expenses... |
We’re in the middle of designing (with the help of a graphic designer friend) our Save the Date post cards. When we got engaged, I read all of the “rules” on save the dates, i.e. originally intended for destination weddings, to be sent out 6 months in advance. We’re not exactly having a destination wedding (we live in NYC, and are getting married in Madison, WI—and I wouldn’t call Wisconsin in October a destination…) but since many of our friends and family would be traveling, we decided that we were going to “Save the Date”. Part of me didn’t want to waste the paper, beca... |
This is a pretty exciting blog post for me today – these gorgeous floral luggage tag style ‘save the dates’ have been made by one of my readers. Another Charlie, who is getting married next August sent me this picture of her handmade ‘save the dates’. These are actually from a fab free template from a website called Eat Drink Chic so if you’d like to make them yourself you can – what a fab website and resource – have a look here. Charlie told me that they printed them onto textured card, before cutting out the luggage tags. They bought a stamp for the back of the tags an... |
These letterpressed save the dates were submitted to us by our good friend, Aileen at Aileen Invitations in Miami Beach, Florida. Our Rhon design looks truly sensational printed in our lavender and pewter inks. There are certainly times when a softer color palette works best and this is definitely one of those times! We print save the dates for all sorts of occasions and these save the dates happen to be for an engagement celebration. We can’t help but feel that the lavender ink represents gracefulness and charm while the pewter ink helps keep this set looking refined. Purple h... |

One of the trickiest things about planning a destination wedding is getting guests to commit to flying a million miles and paying for them no-less. Obviously the more time you can give guests to wrap their heads around the pending travel the better. People need to save up, ask for leave, arrange babysitters and dog walkers and in some cases they may need to get a passport. At this early stage of the game you may not have all the details yet (I do but that’s just me). But two things you should have decided on are the date and the country, state, town. Once you have these essential elements yo... |
Today I wanted to share with you these ADORABLE save the date cards that designer Yeri Yun sent out for her own wedding. Yeri used a technique called gocco, which can be DIY friendly if you are crazy ambitious (check out a little video tutorial here). Beyond that, I love that Yeri created a bunting banner as her save the date. How festive–I can just imagine all the guests that hung up her sweet little bunting somewhere around the house–it’s just so happy. And creative! I hope you enjoy… ... |
