Oh gawd peoples, I was such a horrible blogger last week. Gone! Without a trace, I was! Please forgive me, folks. My hubby and I have been looking at homes, which involved a lot of driving around last week, and that coupled with my daughter being sick early in the week all made for one frazzled mama. So anyway, we put an offer down on a foreclosure on Friday. The wait to see if our offer was accepted will take a couple of days, but hopefully we'll know by Monday. I'm really nervous - nervous we'll get the house and nervous we won't, haha! In any case, I'll keep you all updated on what happen...

When looking for a wedding venue in the Charlottesville area, Danielle recommended that we visit one of her favorite wedding venues, a farm in Scottsville, VA (about 15 minutes outside of the city).  The farm is owned by Shawn Cosette who is the owner of Beehive Events, an event styling and florist company.  When we visited the farm, we both immediately adored Shawn and the feel of the surrounding the area, and loved the idea of having our wedding somewhere unique.  While we ultimately decided to book the Clifton Inn, the farm was a close runner-up and I could tell that Paul was a bit disap...

I am swooning over the way this table is decorated!  An old plank going down the center with some flower arrangements, lace wrapped votives and some nuts and sticks!  Here's a close up of the flowers.  I L-O-V-E lambs ear in arrangements - it is super soft and silvery green. Some of the details for you too.Ah, the feathers are fab too!  Now I see this as a very cost effective tabletop.  First off - old planks...find them for free.  Second - old trophies and slightly tarnished silver vases - I would scour antique stores, flea markets and friends homes (just put a sticker on the bottom ...

If you recall my original visit to Heritage Prairie, then you might remember the Farm Dinners I mentioned in my blog post found here. I revisited the farm for a photo shoot opportunity during one of their farm dinners. Lucky for us the people at Heritage Prairie invited us to stay for dinner. The food was phenomenal! If you haven't visited the farm yet, I would highly encourage you to purchase your tickets for their next farm dinner now! To view details for their list of dinners click here.  ...

It is so wonderful to show up at an event having no responsibility for any of the planning, set up, serving or cleaning. I had the great opportunity to be the photographer at the second annual Farm to Table Dinner held last night at the famed Great Hill Farm in Marion, Massachusetts. The event, is geared toward the promotion of local farmers and bringing food from the local farm to the table in an elegant and stylish way. Kudos to How on Earth in Mattapoisett for their fundraising efforts for SEMAP.      ...

Adding the word locavore to your vocabulary, if you haven't already done so, is an easy thing to do. It's an easy word to say. The definition is easy to remember. (Locavores are people who strive to eat only locally grown foods.) And to be a locavore is a wonderful thing for the environment and for your local economy. In my own life, I try to maintain an awareness of where my fruits and vegetables come from, but I tend to grab whatever meats and dry goods I need. I love the idea of being a locavore, but the limiting of my options scares me. I'm not sure why, considering it's typically ...
