Wow, I L-O-V-E this idea! How fabulous is this oyster bar? I love the way it is used for oysters, but it can be used in so many other ways too. I really like the tealights scattered inside - but be careful here...a sleeve held too long could catch fire quickly! I would place the tealights in votive holders to protect the flame and my guests. But seriously this is just fabulous. I think it could be made pretty easily too. Galvanized steel trays, a couple of galvanized pots flipped upside down with some adhesive and your done! Here is my twist on the idea above - you could use qu... |
Things made of ice have always amazed me. It all started when I was 12 years old and saw an ice sculpture of a mermaid on a cruise ship. A couple years ago at a friend's wedding, I was in awe of the vodka ice luge perched atop an entire bar made of ice. I've accepted that these icy works of art probably aren't going to be gracing any of my future parties, but this ice shot glass maker can give me the next best thing without having to wield a chisel or a chainsaw. These shot glasses are obviously great for frosty libations, but why stop there? I want to use them as containers for... |

Winter is quite the unpredictable season, but it's the only one that brings us snow angels, snowmen, and snow days. Pretty great things, in my opinion, and they got me thinking about traveling to real winter wonderlands. photo by xdachez.com. Did you know that you can get married in a hotel built completely out of ice? Quebec's Hotel de Glace (or Ice Hotel, for all of us non-French speakers) is built every January, and open for weddings, honeymoons, and private functions through the end of March. photo by Big Ben. room designed by Eriksson & Bergh. We all know that the hottest trend is having a "lounge" at your wedding, but how cool would it be to do the entire lounge in ice!Quebec City, Canada and Jukkasjärvi, Sweden have long been known for their Ice Hotels, where both cities take on a handful of artists to create and entire hotel resort out of ice. Both cities usually tie it in to their annual winter festival, but it's been so popular that they are leaving it open all winter long. Now ice sculptors and other artists are bringing this craft to you and it can be done even in the middle of summer. So how fun would it be to create someth... |

Fall is not just for the oranges and reds. I love when brides think outside of the seasons box and come up with something great. These lush browns and soft blues are the perfect combination! It has the warmth and coziness, yet a cool breeze with the blue. I was so inspired by this stunning bouquet! Mostly because it has the hot detail for fall: velvet. Little touches of velvet add so much richness and texture to your decor, not to mention being totally elegant. A rustic wood table brings it down to earth, yet still chic with a few chandeliers. And how adorable are these DIY sugar packet favors... |
