Like I said earlier today, my best friend, Katie, got married a few months ago in Dallas, Texas. Her goal was to create a vintage-inspired, chic wedding without breaking the bank. I was a bridesmaid and spent hours chatting with Katie along the way...and I just knew, that with her amazing sense of style and her incredibly practical approach, she would pull off a perfect night... all photos by Carissa Byers When I saw the flowers that Katie chose, and the talented girls at Rufus Felix designed, I was in love. The photos don't do these flowers justice...they were AMAZING. Katie's bouquet wa...

Yeehaw y’all! I had the best time at the recent Atlanta and Dallas book signings. You guys were fun fun. So, please forgive the following long post of pics. It’s getting really hard to narrow the photos down for these recaps. I want to show all your faces to thank you for coming out. So to keep the posts at a reasonable (kinda) length, I’m posting more of the photos from each signing on my flickr account. You can access them through the slideshow links at the bottom of this post and if you see yourself in one, feel free to use it. P.S. – If you’re wondering when I’m going to bake a...

  • Last week, Boaz and I took a trip to Dallas. My grandmother passed away on Valentine’s day, so we headed there for her funeral later that week. It was such a blessing to be with so many of my dear family members, and to remember her life. Most of what I personally know of my grandmother has been of her ailing health. She dealt with diabetes and blindness issues practically ever since I can remember. She was married to Don Johnson (no, not that one) for over 50 years, and we all thought it was somewhat fitting for her to pass on Valentine’s. Ruth Ella Johnson went peacefully to be with her ...

A couple of weeks ago I had the wonderful opportunity to get together with the local Dallas Pictage User Group and give back to the community. We photographed a fun mom and kids for their dad who is on active duty for the Army and currently deployed overseas. This family was so easy to work with and the kids were so stinkin’ cute, especially the little one. She was not camera shy at all. The photoshoot was held at a really cool space right outside of downtown Dallas called Off the Grid. It’s a great venue which would be awesome for a wedding reception or any other large party or function. ...

These gorgeous Dallas nuptials by Shipra Panosian can only be described as classic, timeless, elegant… and downright fabulous.  With an uber-chic pink and blue color scheme and a groom rockin’ a bow tie, it’s about as perfect a wedding as one can be.  Not to mention that the reception was held at the stunning bride’s family home à la Father of the Bride and my 7th grade self is literally squealing with delight.  AND the entire family pitched in on every last amazing detail.  Yes, I do believe you have some serious competition, Annie Banks, because this wedding is awesome.  Join ...
