I just finished up the "hard hat" tour of the brand new downtown Portland hotel The Nines, and all I can say is squeeeee! I have been in the events industry for 11 years; it takes a lot to knock me off my feet. Even under the thin layer of construction dust and yellow tape, what I see coming together at The Nines was enough to do just that.The hotel has a Fashion theme: the banquet spaces and ballrooms are aptly named Culture, Fashion, Design, Gallery, and Studio, to recall the history of the original Meier & Frank department store building in which the hotel resides. To the Nines… the Ninety-Nines, That IsLast year the hot day to get married was 8/8/08 (a Friday). The year before that it was 7/7/07 (a Saturday). Next year I’m guessing we’re going to see people who can deal with Sunday weddings choosing to tie the knot on 10/10/10. Nine CakesTo be honest, I’ve been completely brain washed over the last decade when it comes to wedding cakes.
