Words by Courtney CoxPhotos courtesy of Rome Weddings PhotographyThere’s no place like home, but for Dominick and Brittany, Italy was the next best thing. The couple had always planned to honeymoon in Italy and Sicily and decided to wrap their wedding up in the festivities. They also had a sentimental reason for saying Ciao to Italia: the groom’s mother who passed away from cancer had a life-long dream to go to Italy, but unfortunately didn’t get the opportunity. Holding their wedding in Rome was a way for Dominick and Brittany to make his mother a part of the day and pay respect to her ...

In August we are doing a wedding in Rome. I just returned from the site inspection and over the next few posts I am going to share my thoughts and inspirations with you. There is no more magnificent city than Rome~you could get lost for days. Below is the church for the ceremony. Can you imagine Bach being played over the organ there as you process down the aisle! We are such a young nation. Can you imagine the church was built in the 1600’s.  Chiesa Nuova-Santa Maria in Vallicella The church of Santa Maria in Vallicella was begun in 1575 on the initiative of St Philip Neri, founder of the ...

Marisol and Richard met in Rome in 2006 during a study abroad program, where they lived together in a "Real World" style apartment with 10 roommates and Rome at their fingertips. According to Marisol, Rome was "sensory overload to say the least but we soon found time to get to know each other as we were able to explore the city over the next two months!" They traipsed the city and the region together, and Rick kissed Mari for the first time at the Pantheon, a tradition that they love to continue to this day. When it came time to choose a location for their wedding, goi...

  • {Photo: Rochelle Cheever} Happy Valentine’s Day!!  In honor of this lovers’ holiday, we wanted to share a bit of wedding inspiration from Rome, Italy – the place where St. Valentine’s (Valentine of Rome) relics can be found today, at the Church of Saint Praxed. If you’re getting married on this special calendar date, your design can be symbolic and meaningful even if red and pink aren’t poured into the palette.  In fact, typically those flowers go up in cost around the holiday (as do most flowers, but red and pink roses rising the most).  So why not incor...

lately, i have heard, more than ever before that immediately after getting engaged, couples are booking all of their vendors in a day even when the wedding is more than a year away.  i have heard that they felt rushed or panicked and just wanted to get the contracts done.  i understand that feeling but we strongly encourage our brides to really do due diligence and select vendors slowly and carefully, here’s why:  * it is true, venues book quickly.  especially in a city like ours.  however, you will spend a lot of money changing a venue into what you want it to be versus simply accentin...

Ciao! Back in New York, Chris asked Jaime to pick an envelope out of the five in his hand. Each had a destination to a place she always wanted to visit. She chose Rome, Italy! I couldn’t have been more excited to plan a proposal in Rome since the Yes Girls and I studied abroad in Rome during college. After talking to Chris about Jaime’s loves and finding out she always wanted to have a picnic in a beautiful place, we knew just the spot! He proposed at Villa d’Este in Tivoli surrounded by fountains and gardens; if you browse through the photos taken by the fabulous Rochelle Cheever with R...

As if Italy wasn’t already pretty much top of my “Most Romantic Cities I Simply Must Visit” list. Italia Celebrations sent over a Rome wedding they planned, detailed, and captured beautifully. And now I am in love, and ready for my Roman holiday. The couple had just a handful of guests present on their special day, but from the custom gown to the get away Fiat, adorned with the words “Oggi Sposi” (the Italian equivalent of Just Married, for those of us who aren’t so lucky as to speak the language of love), the entire affair was filled with love, style, and p...

It was late. And we were trying to pack our bags. Perhaps I could blame the traveling, the heat, the huge dinner, but, either way, we were not being ourselves. We were laughing at the stupidest things and I was pretending to act all deep. We spoke about politics, ethnocentricity, and being American. He made fun of the fact that I wear a big American flag t-shirt and sing patriotic songs at inappropriate times. Oh, and remember that one time you made an American flag cake?! And then I asked why Americans refer to Florence as Florence, not Firenze, it's actual name? Why Rome, not Roma? ...
