Source This post is all about what our wedding is, as well as what it definitely isn’t. It’s taken Dahlia Dude and I a while to get to this point, and, sometimes, we’re still unsure about things. Which is why this is a recipe, instead of a formula. We knew that our idea of our wedding was going to change and evolve over time, and the word ‘formula’ just sounded too rigid and strict for us. And so, without further ado, the Dahlia Wedding Recipe: Ingredients: one cup of vintage one cup of romance half a cup of whimsy one cup of nostalgia a handful of DIY one modern villa great food, dr... |
We are not going to lie … we LOVE Janie from The Bride’s Cafe. Not only is she one of our sister wedding bloggers, but she is also the face behind Janie Medley Flora Design in East-Central Virginia. Lucky for you she has contributed not one, but two amazing wedding bouquets for our Recipe Bouquets. One for the bride and one for her bridal party. If you are not lucky enough to use Janie as your florist take this recipe to your local florist or pick up the following flowers and create it yourself. Both bouquets are so perfect for the fall and also perfect for a wedding during ̶... |
So I last left off talking about our ceremony, and I’ll share that whole conundrum with you in this post. Like I said in my last post, we had three options for the ceremony: the church that my parents got married in, the garden of the villa, or find a whole new venue for the ceremony. Each ceremony site has pros and cons, so I’m going to lay it all out, and hopefully you guys can give me your opinions on it all. The Church So my parents got married in St. Patrick’s church in Cape Town. It’s absolutely gorgeous, and it definitely has the plus of being adorably nostalgic. I love the sy... |
In my last post, I left off just after talking about the nostalgia and DIY, so the next thing on my list is the modern villa. I’m assuming that putting ‘one modern villa’ on our wedding recipe was a little more than a little confusing for some of you, so bear with me while I explain. As I’m sure that you’ve read in Part 1, a huge part the wedding inspiration comes from my parents’ wedding. I wanted our wedding to have the same feel of love and happiness prevail over the entire day, as well as the laid back feel. The problem? Well, when my parents had their wedding, they actually li... |

Photos: Denise Cregier For Beth, the owner and lead floral designer of Blush Floral Design Studio, including her favorite flower—café au lait dahlias—was a must. "The season is fairly short, so I basically chose our wedding date based around this flower!" says Beth, who wore a Monique Lhuillier gown. The bloom was ubiquitous throughout the midsummer affair and was featured prominently in her bouquet, as well as in the ceremony arrangements. Even the invitations by Lucky Luxe featured a dahlia motif. The evening ceremony was held in the vineyard at Jo... |
