We all know Jimmy Choo is a label that every girl wants to wear on her wedding day. The new Cruise 2010 collection is oh so pretty and is brimming with brighter than bright colours that scream summer fun. More and more girls are now opting for gorgeous statement shoes in colours such as red, royal blue and pink and I have a feeling the new Jimmy Choo collection will make more than a few girls swoon. The collection will be available from the Sydney store from mid November. Weddings on a cruise is not a new trend and I always thought it was a great idea. On a cruise, the food and alcohol are already paid for so the cost of the ceremony ends up being a couple of hundred, or a few thousand at most. If the wedding is small enough, the bride and groom may even pay for the guests to be there. But when we were in St. John and St. Thomas last year (see posts from our trip), every wedding planner we talked to frowned upon the cruise ship wedding. They said they line up the brides on the beach and conduct the wedding like an assembly line. They said it’s impersonal and ...

This is one of the more unusual logo projects I’ve ever done. A regular client is headed off for a big birthday celebration private cruise with her husband and their friends, and she wanted a logo to help brand the trip. I had a lot of fun doing the research, and came up with an anchor as the main theme for the logo. I incorporated classic nautical hues: navy blue, foul weather gear yellow, and squid ink black, as well as a fun bright yellow stripe pattern.  I found some fabulous nautical tote bags, complete with painted rubber bases and real rope handles, at Lands End, and had the logo e...

Filed under: Destination Ceremonies, Alternative Weddings, CeremoniesWant to maximize your wedding time and money? Think about taking a cruise. Cruise weddings provide convenience and ease of arrangement, especially when you leave the details to the cruise line wedding planner. You can marry in your U.S. port before the cruise begins, allowing guests to come aboard and enjoy the festivities and depart before the trip. Or, you can get married in a foreign port and bring the wedding guests along for the ride. Just make sure your planner knows the requirements of the foreign port so you'll be lega...

Hi everyone!  This weekend I’m going to regale you with tales of my Greek Isle cruise!  We sailed on the Royal Caribbean Splendour of the Seas and departed from Venice, Italy on June 14th.  Two of our best friends, Feisty Tourist and her husband, accompanied us. Venice was lovely.  It was not my first time to the city so there was not pressure to see everything and do everything.  {Venice from the Rialto Bridge, Author’s personal collection, 2008} Because it was Feisty’s first time in Venice, we visited St. Mark’s and the Doge’s Palace.   {At St. Mark’s in Venice, Author’...

  • Yesterday, Karl Lagerfeld appropriately sent a slew of pastel-haired models down the runway the gardens of Versailles. What seems to be inspired by Marie Antoinette’s notorious closet (and that would make sense given the shows’ location), this Chanel Cruise collection was filled with pastel colors and a bunch of white dresses that, you guessed it, would make awesome wedding dresses for the avant-garde bride. While in my opinion, the collection was mediocre given Chanel’s awesome track record, I am loving all the looks below. All photos from Style.com       ...
