Admittedly, when it comes to bridal accessories the garter is an afterthought at best for me. It’s tradition, it’s a garter, moving on. That, however, ceased to be the case when I came upon the glamorous couture offerings by U.K. designer label Florrie Mitton. The handmade line consists of beautiful laces, silk satins, chiffon & tulle all trimmed with silk ribbons, vintage sparkles, charms and jewels. They are ultra feminine and fashion-forward and proof that it is all about the details. ... |
While planning my wedding, I knew from day one that a garter and a bouquet toss were two things I was avoiding. And avoid I did. It was just something that was never on my radar and never of interest to me. With that said, I might have felt very differently about at least wearing a garter (I still wouldn’t have participated in any kind of dance floor garter antics, I can assure you that much) had I known about these beautiful garter creations from Florrie Mitton Couture. The loveliest silk tulle, lace, pearls and ribbon make these garters truly gorgeous. Even the packaging is pretty. (An... |
Lately we have been super obsessed with mint ... mint bridesmaid dresses, mint flowers, mint invitations ... if it's mint to be, we most likely adore it. Sarah, of La Gartier (oh my gawd garters galore!!!) contacted us recently and sent us a whole bunch of yummy garters from her couture garter collection and we decided that since we have focused on couture cakes for the last week, we would now let you feast your eyes on something else delicious for the next 10 days or so ... a garter a day from La Gartier :) Right????? We can hardly wait until tomorrow to share the next custom garter by ... |
Personally, I’m not a huge fan of the garter toss. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s fun when I see it at weddings, but the thought of my husband getting lost under my dress in front of my family is less than appealing. That being said, I may change my mind after seeing Florrie Mitton’s couture garters. They’re TO. DIE. FOR. “Florrie Mitton is a UK based designer label with an emphasis on pure luxury. All items are handmade using exclusively designed trimmings, vintage findings, beautiful crystals, fine laces & silks.” Tres chic, non? Visit Florrie Mitton’s full colle... |

Alencon Lace is the gorgeous bridal lace that is stitched on sheer tulle like material. I has a raised pattern and beads, sequin and or crystals sewn onto it. I recently had the oportunity to create a lovely custom made heirloom alencon lace wedding garter for a bride. The particular lace that I purchased for this creative endevor had beads and sequins sewn onto it. However my bride did not want any sequins on her garter, only faux pearls. My first job in creating my masterpiece was to remove all current beading/sequins. I thought it may be difficult, however I found ... |

Ok! Day 2 of our obsession with La Gartier garters :) Yesterday we dazzled you with a gorgeous mint green garter ... today we are focusing on a more personal touch! Want to show your hubby-to-be that taking his name (if you're going that route) is something you are super psyched about? What about donning his last initial on your thigh?? We absolutely adore the look of this garter (especially the tiffany blue color) with the dangling letter-charm. Photographs by Scobey Photography... |
