I always see posts about “What does a wedding planner/coordinator do?”, "Do I need a wedding planner?" or “Why do planners cost so much?” I have heard so, so many people ask about what we do and I have seen a ton of posts about what we do for you. Here are a few:Do I need a wedding planner? Why do I need a wedding coordinator? Please Hire a Wedding PlannerThe other question, “Why do planners cost so much?” is not one that is addressed often (or at least how I am going to do it). I get countless emails from brides looking for a coordinator but do not want to invest in one, they just w... |
There have been a TON of these articles written lately, by myself and others. I think it is important to showcase and bring them to you (...if you are out there!). I know I am not the best writer, so by giving you access to these other articles, you can read what I really mean, even if I don't have the exact words to say it.So here are a few articles...Cocktails and DetailsWeddingDIVAPlanner PagesWeddlady (this is one of my favorites! I'm envisioning our invitations as beautiful pieces of work (created by someone fantastic!) once they are done. Miss Eggplants' invitation below via weddingbee is where my inspiration for the layout/assembly comes from: The contents of our invitations will include:- A black 5x7 pocketfold- Plum ribbon with monogram seal attached on the outside of pocketfold- Raspberry backing cardstock- White cardstock with black printing- One white outside envelope- An RSVP postcard or RSVP card and return envelope- Inserts with info about the reception, directions, etc.I sat down tonight to find out what the... |
Because Mr.Pom and I are very concious of the amount of money that can be spent on a wedding we are trying to keep all of our costs to a minimum. We are the kind of people who do not want to spend our life savings on one day and then have nothing to live off of. We are also not the type of people who are willing to have their parents spend ten’s of thousands of dollars on one day either. So we find ourselves in a very lucky situation with the friends and family that we have. I say this because here are the things we are cutting out of our spending budget. I’m preparing for my trip to The Special Event where I’ll be giving attendees two opportunities to see my on my soapbox! I know most of you readers are brides to be, but for those event professionals out there, I hope to see some of you. The first with the fabulous Liene Stevens of Think Splendid, where we’ll be discussing strategies for marketing to today’s highly educated bride. Her summary is way better than mine. My second talk is Solo Mio, on a topic near and dear to my heart- how the event industry can better understand and cater to the growing multi-cultural marketplace. If... |
Cutting costs. It’s a phrase that I hear a lot. I cringe every time I hear it, because it never results in something extremely good. However, brides are constantly having to cut costs in order to best accommodate their budget. So here a few ways to efficiently cut costs that won’t totally take away from your wedding. - Guest count. Just about EVERYTHING for your wedding is directly correlated to your number guests. 200 guests= 20 tables= 20 linens= 20 centerpieces= 200 meals= open bar for 200 people for X number of hours. Lower that number of guests, and you lower all of those numbers... |
If more than one event is taking place at your wedding ceremony or wedding reception venue on the day of your wedding, maybe you can share the costs of the wedding decor.Ask the location manager to put you in touch with the hosts of the other event and find out what decor they are planning. If your decor and theirs is similar, discuss options of sharing the costs of the flowers, lighting and other details.... |
I overheard a conversation today where a woman was explaining to a male co-worker that she spent $200 on a pair of shoes. His response was that shoes cost $20, where would you even find $200 shoes? It reminded me of when I was engaged and my grandparents were comparing the cost of goods and service for my wedding to what they paid for in 1945 when they were married.Grandma thought my wedding dress would cost no more than $250 since her dress cost $25 and grandpa and his brother couldn't imagine why a cake would cost more than $50 since it's made of "flour and eggs."Don't be surpris... |
