• The Spring/Summer 2011 Christian Dior collection screams my favorite words to describe the perfect collection…”Lady-like Glam”. The fashion show took place at the Musee Rodin in Paris where guests and lovers of the fashion world gathered to watch John Galliano’s haute couture collection for Christian Dior. Magnifique! {Fashion Telegraph}...

  • Cinched waists, diaphanous skirts, heavily tiered ball gowns, and billows upon billows of tulle mesmerized the guests at Christian Dior’s summer 2012 couture show. Models dresses in feminine silhouettes graced the runway with simple an subtle makeup and perfectly coiffed hair. Bill Gaytten, head of creative direction for the fashion house synonymous with the word couture, shows us that pretty and feminine has a place in the world of haute couture and many would agree.             ...

Christian Dior revolutionized fashion in 1947 with his “New Look”, a 180 turn out of the gray days of fashion following WWII.  Once restrictions lifted on fabric post war, Dior had the freedom to introduce the hourglass silhouette, showing off a cinched waist atop skirts flowing in yards of silks and layers of crinoline. Recently this defined  waist has made a come back and brides are loving it. A ball gown can be as romantic a confection as those seen in the corps de ballet, flowing in swirls of white tulle like the gowns above  Thus, sweeping skirts equal sw...

The Haute Couture shows have begun in Paris and meanwhile, back in New York we are bracing for the hottest day of the year thus far. What I wouldn't give to be anywhere but here today, particularly front row at  Fashion Week in Paris.Yesterday, Fashion Week attendees were treated to a floral fantasy, freshly picked from the imagination of John Galliano. The designer tended to this collection as if it were his own personal garden, drawing inspiration from the natural beauty of nature. Of particular note are the raffia-tied waistbands and cellophane headwraps. Take note of the oversized ora...

  • Christian Dior Spring/Summer 2011 couture collection is dripping with opulent, old school glamour. As usual, we fell for the dramatically draped ball gowns in pastel shades. We also absolutely adore this sandy beige + light blue tulle overlay two-tone effect dress. Layer upon layer of asymmetric hemlines is the stunning feature of this light dress. Modern+traditional couture hanbok — John Galliano’s take on the  fusion hanbok (like something Sandra Oh wore to the SAG awards a few years back, only this one’s much haute-r). Lovely pink bud shaped gown. ...

  • Delicious candy colored confections over at Christian Dior Resort 2011 collection showcased in Shanghai. The collection is inspired by the French New Wave and features a lot of cool, classy pieces, and more dramatic, romantic numbers typical of John Galliano. Of course we have to put the big pink  ballgown as the first picture! There are other bride-worthy pieces like these two beautiful, airy sheaths in white and milk tea. Adore the red long-sleeve maxi dress with jewel neckline and a sweet ribbon accenting the waist. To end, another big strapless gown, this time in purple. Vive la drama,...

I’m feeling inspired by these ethereal looks by John Galliano for Christian Dior (from the Spring 2011 couture runway show). I love the pretty forties vibe, and think these gowns would make amazing wedding dresses. I can totally see the third one (far right) at a fancy, formal winter wedding in Aspen — perhaps with some leather boots (for the outdoor ceremony, and a sexy pair of nude sandals for the reception), a bouquet of lily-of-the valley, and an uber-handsome royal groom (tall, dark, handsome, foreign). I see a horse drawn sled ride to the ceremony, and lots and lots of champagne cock...

Filed under: Fashion, Dress of the Day A stunning crepe georgette gown by Christian Dior, this dress is all about drama. The plunging V-neckline and dramatic pagoda sleeves add a heaping dose of sophistication. The embroidered crossover bodice hugs your body making this dress impossibly sexy while showing very little skin.Gallery: Dress of the day: Brides Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments...

  • Carnival-like atmosphere on the runway of Christian Dior Fall 2011 couture show, presented by Bill Gaytten, Dior’s first couture show without John Galliano. Above, voluminous ball gown (the skirt looks lovely in motion). Below, sleeveless dress sprinkled with confetti and streamers. “To capture the spirit of La rose Moderne for Autumn/Winter 2011-2012, Dior is cultivating [...] ...
