Recently we designed a wedding at Cipriani’s 42nd Street in New York city. This Bowery building, built in 1921, is an Italian renaissance masterpiece featuring soaring marble columns, a 65 foot ceiling, magnificent inlaid floors and glorious chandeliers. It boasts a national and New York city landmark interior. At the entrance of the building we centered a custom built black lacquer table for the seating cards. Two arrangements in green porcelain urns with manzanita branches and hand-wired cymbidium orchids were lit from above. We adorned the branches with hanging chinese lanterns an...

Chinoiserie is a french term which describes design with a Chinese influence.Using chinoiserie as a design inspiration in home decor can result in some fabulous rooms, and I think translating that into a wedding could be equally fabulous! Here are some ideas of ways to incorporate a little chinoiserie chic into your wedding...Use delicate blue and white porcelain containers as vessels for your centerpieces. Mixing 3 smaller pieces of different shapes and sizes into a grouping would be adorable! The red flowers are beautiful, but I think yellow or white flowers would look great as well.{via Chin...

Look no further -- Alex Evenings has the perfect dress. This dress is listed as a "Mother of the Bride" dress, but don't be fooled; it has Cool Urban Bride written all over it. Wear the lace shrug for the ceremony and remove for the party. This is a dress that is best for tall, slim br...

I’m currently lamenting the loss of our beloved monthly addiction: Domino Magazine. So much so, that last night, I started going through my archived copies. I came across a cover that I really loved and thought I’d do an inspiration palette based on the cover. The beautiful blue colors quickly lead me to peacock feathers, which I happily added. (MADLY in love with those earrings, by the way). Quick note: For those of you, like me, that love to add gobs of candles to your tables, you ought to strongly consider the amber votives I’ve included here. They are a slight departure from the stan...

Cities have always held a particular fascination and excitement for me, namely San Francisco, which just happens to be my home sweet home.  One of the best things about my job is dressing brides for almost every kind of wedding you can imagine, the city chic bride being one of my favorite themes. The metropolitan wedding can be as informal and minimal (but chic) as a city hall affair or as high dress as this celebration on a roof garden.  City dressing gives you the opportunity really 'Vogue' and wear those short kid gloves, carry a tiny satin clutch or spo...

Check out these lovelies from Breathe Couture, a great place for one-of-a-kind accessories and jewelry you can't find anywhere else.  Custom made pieces are crafted mostly from upcycled and vintage materials  with lace, ribbons and jewelry  mixed in with contemporary materials.  While inspirations abound from fairy tales in most of these pieces, a little Coco Chanel, Lagerfeld and Dior are also thrown into the mix.  ...

Rosa ClaraCheck out these gems, all are top designer bridal gowns with pockets--some even the focal point of the design.  While some eras went for pockets, even in formal attire, this is the first we've really seen them show up in bridal.  After all, once-upon-a-time a bride didn't have to carry anything.except a bouquet.  She had maids to handle everything else.  However, pockets, like collars, peplums and hoods are all functional in their way but still a stylish fashion component to be added and enjoyed. Think of it: no bridal purse, your hands are free.  Brides are ...
