Flowers a beautiful, there is no denying that. They smell great and look amazing, but dude, they are freaking expensive!?!? I mean, come on!? So, I did a wee bit a research to find some genius centerpieces that don’t need flowers at all. Most of them are as simple as hitting up the produce department, a craft store, or your own backyard. Seriously.  Here are my 3 favorite non-floral arrangements.  Sticks: I love sticks in centerpieces. Is that weird?! I think that they look elegant and playful. I love them natural in all different shapes, just sitting in interesting vases. I love the sma...

When it comes to planning my own wedding, I wanted to put as many special touches in every detail the way we've done for other weddings. I also had to be very mindful of the cost since my fiancé and I are paying for everything ourselves. So in this blog, I'd like to talk about our centerpieces. Since this is the piece that guests will be looking at the longest (considering a normal reception lasts about 3-5 hours) we put in a lot of creative thoughts to give them something unique to look at. My criterias are:1. Red, red, red2. Chinese but not cheesy3. Mix 'n Match (I like variety and didn...

I was asked to design a piece for the Action/RE-Action Runway show. "Touching Warms the Art" is an exhibition of jewelry made from tactile, non-precious materials hosted by the Museum of Contemporary Crafts. For the fashion show, each clothing designer selected a piece of jewelry from the show and designed a garment in response to it. I chose a magnificent wire neckpiece by Berenice Ramirez, and made this dress (many thanks to Gretchen Jones for modeling). You can see more photos from the show here....
