Quilted Green Baptism Cake Sometimes, some of our best customers allow us to be part of the progression of their families life events. Jacob’s parent’s first reached out to us 2009 to create a baby shower cake. Then in 2010 we helped celebrate Jacob’s first birthday with a safari jungle cake. This year marked Jacob’s baptism. We used my son’s baptism cake as inspiration with some key changes. The sides of the cake tiers were paneled with quilted green fondant and piped white dots to match the invitation. (Speaking of matching invitations with cakes, have you checked out our lat... |

The party was princess themed and Gabrielle was initially inspired by our castle cakes for the theme. Ultimately we came up with this princess tiara cake with quilted pink fondant and metallic gold tiara. The tiara is highlighted with a few pink and clear crystals. The base of each tier includes fuchsia pink bands with thinner purple bands on t... |

Damask Sweet 16 Cake We were contacted by the birthday girl’s aunt who helped design this cake for her niece’s 16 birthday party at the Embassy Suites in Parsippany, NJ. (What a great aunt!) Red ribbon separators separate each of the distinct tiers for this three tiered sweet 16 cake. The top of the cake includes a red gumpaste 16 which rests atop a white fondant tier with a black center band and red cutout diamond with the birthday girl’s name. The middle tier includes a black damask pattern ( a continuing trend with this recent sweet 16 damask cake). Quilted and black piped dots hi... |

Over the years we have seen a lot of quilts at weddings. It is one of the traditions that creates beautiful labors of love for couples and their families. Above is a beautiful quilt as designed by Etsy Designer Tapestri. They can create a special quilt just for you embroidered with messages from each of your guests. This collage is from a previous post that we did about Margaret’s beautiful wedding at Rust Manor. Getting creative with quilts is easy to do by setting up a station for everyone to get involved! We have also used quilts for chuppah toppers as well! If you want a a quilt ... |
The nights are getting chilly here in the northeast and I find myself tucking myself a little tighter into my bed at night. I love being cozy underneath the weight of a thick warm blanket. This "Tree of Life" quilt was posted on Homespun Weddings...and I thinks it's lovely. I've been making a quilt for a few months now...and I'm in love. When I first started it I was nutso-quilter-girl...and I did it everyday...I couldn't get enough! It was a BLAST! I made 12 squares in a matter of weeks. There was something so satisfying about finishing a square...I dunno...it was addicting. Except now I'... |
There's nothing I love more than curling up in a quilt, espcially of course, if it was handmade by someone I love. This dotty quilt from APC is super lovely and perhaps inspiring for quilt makers out there interested in simple, modern quilts. Photo: APC.... |
